Re: THE USC Trojans Discussion, Scout & Predictions Thread
If I'm not mistaken, this is going to be the first sellout since the LSFF project was completed. It's time to see just how loud Arizona Stadium can get. This is Arizona's big chance to finally break through. This is the biggest game possibly in Arizona Stadium history to this point (stay with me her...

I'm not sure if Neal is still at 100% yet. But like I said, I still don't feel like RR has really started opening the playbook yet.
Tyrell Johnson is going to break one for a TD this year. That speed is just ridiculous.

Maybe so but Arizona is a P5 conference team that's 5-0 and just knocked off the #2 team in the country in their house. That's going to be hard to ignore, especially with the "5-0" next to the name in the standing.

If the Cats beat USC, I'm guessing there are going to be a lot of tickets sold for the last three games in a hurry. It would be about damn time, too; I don't think people really understand what Rodriguez has been building here.

Re: THE USC Trojans Discussion, Scout & Predictions Thread
I will be very curious to see how ASU does running the ball tomorrow. If USC doesn't shore up their run defense then Arizona will have a great opportunity to exploit that. They have a ball hawking secondary, but if the Cats establish the run at all then those DBs are going to have a tough time tryin...

For as down as we've been on McKnight, he's still playing hard as hell and he's made a couple of huge plays that have been under the radar. There was that TD saving tackle last night that kept 4 points off the board for Oregon, and he had a huge pass breakup on third down on Nevada's final drive. Ex...

One thing for certain, RR took Helfitch to the woodshed for the second year in a row. I mean flat out embarresed him from a coaching perspective. Last year after Oregon we were crushed by asu. 2 years ago we followed up the okie state win with 3 straight losses (after our scrimmage vs. Sc state). No more letdown. No more wsu home losses. I tend to thing #2 is closer to the truth. These coaches do a ton of evaluation and offer guys they like early; often other programs follow suit after UA has done the leg work for them. They are after a lot of speed demons and it's looking like they know what they're doing evaluating guys. Arizona ...

In the "great game" category, I'd also nominate Ebbele. The Cats were able to run those plays around right end because he was a brick wall sealing off that side of the field. He was mauling Oregon's D-linemen.

That's a mantra Rodriguez preaches all the time. Now you see why. After having to grind out a win against UTSA on a tough night on the road, after having to survive some self-inflicted wounds against Nevada, after a comeback for the ages against Cal, you saw it again tonight. No panic in San Antonio...

You have to play Oregon on containment first, aggressiveness second. If they get long completions, that's fine as long as you keep them in front of you. If they get a speedy ball carrier to the outside, give up the yards, but escort him out of bounds instead of attacking. Sometimes you concede some ...

Both of them were money tonight. But Jones-Grigsby reminded me of another Grigsby, grinding out a really hard first down late in the fourth to seal the game against #2 Oregon. 8 or 9 wins? Wow. I'd be glad with 6. I truly believe that the Cal win was imperative for our bowl chances. Look at the remaining schedule with what we know after 5 weeks. Oregon - likely loss. USC - toss up. They have the star recruits but Arizona has a lot of firepower and may be a more cohesive ...

I'll be curious to see what the defensive stats across the Pac-12 are as the year rolls along. Once the year is done it'll be interesting to see how Arizona's defense stacks up numbers wise against the rest of the Pac-12, which will be more telling than how P12 teams stack up nationally. The Pac may be as tough or tougher than ever, but there's no way this team loses six more games. They're going to improve as the year goes along. 6-6 implies that Solomon gets worse instead of better this year, and considering the kid's past and what he's made of... no way.

Is it just a matter of the defense disguising its looks and tripping him up and him needing the time to figure it out? Pretty much. You can practice all you want but there's no teacher like game experience. All defenses will try to disguise their coverage in one way or another. The thing for Arizon...

If you'll recall dc saying more than once that Jones was making jaws drop every day on practice... yeah, he just may have been onto something there.
Something that became clear during Nevada and then confirmed against Cal is this one simple rule: When it doubt, throw the ball to Cayleb Jones.

Arizona lose by 14 in a relatively low scoring game (28-14). With such vanilla run calling (1 fly sweep the past two games?), Oregon will play mostly man. UA almost always sends more than 3. Just because they only line up with 3 down linemen (which 3-4 defenses also do), doesn't mean that's all they send. Part of the 3-3-5 is disguising where the LBs are coming from, and UA usually sends 4 or 5 on pass rushes, sometimes 6. I would agree that they hav...
