Re: Current 2015 Commits

Man, I wish Desert View would start recruiting some kids. We haven't won much of anything in 20 years.

Re: Meet the Team tonight

Solomon did indeed look the best in the short time I was able to watch. One thing I noticed is that he looks like he's playing with a lot more purpose. His movements from the snap, stepping back away from center after the snap and executing the play are all very quick and crisp. It looks like he see...

Re: Fall Camp

No biggie. It's not like opponents are going to see that and know that a trick is coming. Besides, if they think it might be coming they'll be a bit less aggressive in going after the block. Hell, for all we know the coaching staff wanted them to see that.

Re: QB derby

I don't think RR is tied into doing things any one way. If he thinks playing two QBs is the best way to win the most games, he'll do it. An example of him not being tied too hard to a philosophy - Scott was a running QB and he had Carey in the backfield with him, and we figured the Cats would be run...

Any word on Nick Wilson? With the running back situation, it'll be interesting to see if he's as advertised.

Re: 2014 season

dc, just the type of thing to hear that helps a case of the Mondays. Having watched this rebuild I know this team is better than the pundits think, even though I've got nothing else to go on than everyone else. When you see what RR has done with this team despite having to hold things together with ...

Re: QB derby

Different standards these days. Imagine if we'd have had a crop of QBs like this in the past. We'd have been ecstatic. Whoever wins the starting job, we'll be fine.

Re: QB derby

Rey, I partially agree with what he's saying. RR isn't going to be running the Air Raid offense or have the QB shucking it all over the field, but the quarterback has got to be accurate and the pass must be a legitimate threat. If it's not, if the QB isn't able to hit his targets reliably, the defen...

That schedule looks like something Stoops would have gone through in his first few seasons. Pretty damn brutal.

Re: Vance Johnson article by Javier Morales

I saw that article - holy s***. Addiction is an absolute bastard to beat - no matter how hard you work to beat it, no matter how long you've been clean, it's always calling you back, and it only takes one slip to undo everything you worked so hard for.

Re: QB derby

PAC12 Blog breaks down the back-up QBs for each team. . Nothing new in this story and I think they missed the important point on Arizona. Our biggest upgrade this year is at back-up QB. For the past 2 years we had such a huge drop off at QB we could not afford to lose the starter. This year we will...

Re: Pre Snap Read - #60 UTSA

This game has had me kind of nervous; I do think Arizona will win but at the same time this could be like walking into a hornet's nest like the 2008 New Mexico game. That crowd is going to be fired up and UTSA is looking at Arizona as a chance to get a milestone win. RichRod will have to keep the te...

Re: New Media and College Football

During the season I end up getting a lot of my news from either Twitter ( I follow a lot of CFB accounts, I could put some up here if anyone wanted me to) or from reddit.com/r/CFB /r/CFB is a good community, although it has a very small contingent of Arizona fans at the moment. For Arizona news on ...

I don't know what his relationship with the university is, but he still has great relationships with his former players (and he's still going to bat for them when needed.)

Re: Most Important Player

I'll throw out a different one - Cam Denson. If he performs at the level that he's expected to perform at, that alone will win a couple of extra games for Arizona. It will also mean that 2015 can be the type of year we've always wanted to see.

Re: 2015 recruits/commitment thread

I'm still not too concerned about the RB situation. RichRod has a much higher standard for the skill positions than we're used to seeing here. Think back five years ago - the staff would have been plenty happy with what we've got right now. Whoever gets the starting nod in the backfield has some gig...

He's got insane wheels and can run with anyone; he'll get on somewhere. He was going to have a hard time cracking the rotation this year but he's given us some good memories.
