Wow, that sounds like something Adia would say. Cautiously optimistic we made a good hire.

Was the UofA President involved?

Must have.

The UA only mustered one shot in their regular-season opener, tying the fewest in program history.

Lloyd and Lowe need to end the losing of the hiring head coaches from coaches who have never been a head coach. Have more confidence in Lloyd, but Candrea left Lowe with some pretty good players.

Another steller Robbins/Heeke hire. I see that we have yet to win a conference game and lost to OSU who has not beat us since 2012 when they to are breaking in a new coach. Makes me pretty luke warm about the other hires we will be seeing more of as the year goes on (Hale already lost his one exhibition, Lloyd, Lowe)

Cats lose 4-1 to Washington. The Huskies came into the contest with a 3-6-3 record.

I forget the name of the former coach who moved to Florida, but he had some odd stories about Heeke and Sumlin. He lived down the street from me and we'd chat while our kids played together.

Tony Amato. Heeke should of just hired Sandy Davison. She has a lot more coaching experience than Moros.

About time.

Maybe if we didn’t have a coach who got hired after responding to a Craigslist ad it might have come sooner.

Oh how the bar of this athletic department has been lowered. Tweeting out an "alert" that we won or first conference game, what a joke.

I know too little about soccer, and that the keeper has to guess where the shot is going, but it looks like she kicked it straight at the keeper.

All I can say is "wow":
Another former Florida player said she fell into a depressive spiral playing under Amato during the fall. She said she gained 10 pounds and drank excessively on weekends. After Thanksgiving, when Florida’s frustrating season had finished, she said she considered deliberately crashing her car.
“He made me want to kill myself,” she said. “I wanted to die because of the way this man ran this program.”

Hot damn! I really hope he wasn’t abusive to our players but I highly doubt he just all of a sudden became the person they are complaining about.

Cats score a goal in the 76th minute and get a tie on the road against Nebraska. It's too bad they got rid of overtime in women's soccer this year.

That's a great win over USC. Nice momentum going into the UCLA game, who is ranked #1.

I watched most of the match. When the game was over, I turned the sound up for the first time, and the little high-pitched announcer was silent for a long time, then he said: "well I don't know how it happened, but Arizona won." Arizona won because they out-hustled and out-conditioned USC. The Trojans were gassed for the final ten minutes. Obviously in a 1-0 game, defense was key, and Hope Hisey did a great job in goal. On one possession late, a USC player was dancing around with the ball in front of the goal, and Hisey just dove on the ball as the USC player kicked at it, like a soldier diving on a hand grenade. USC out-shot the Cats by 4 in the second half, but Arizona did a good job of ball control and took it to USC plenty of the time. 2 yellow cards for a frustrated USC to 1 for the Wildcats, but there was a fair amount of chippy stuff. I think early on, they thought they'd be intimidating or something. On one play late, USC was desperately trying to tie it up deep near our goal, when an Arizona defender got caught up with a USC player after she'd made a pass. They both went down, and while the Arizona player was trying to quickly get back up to help out on defense, the USC player did the leg-wrestling thing for several seconds to tie her up, which was uncalled. Just a little bit of color to get a feel for it, for anybody who didn't see it. In any event, not likely they'll get a sweep of the LA schools with UCLA being top-ranked, but beating a top ten team (deserved or otherwise) on the road is a great building block for this team.

To be fair (as I watched a lot of the game myself) the announcer was giving Arizona props for being more aggressive to the ball which was the difference in the game imo. Plus a huge PK save by our goalie was a huge momentum swing and gave the Cats the confidence that they could win the match.

Also, SC missed a couple of other golden chances to score - I recall a point blank header that went just wide - which made them more and more frustrated and eventually wore them down as you mentioned.

The goal we scored was a bit fortunate (but again due to our aggressiveness) as SC's goalie and centre back totally botched clearing the ball.

But Arizona deserved the win. Hope it's a sign of things to come.

The Cats and top-ranked and undefeated UCLA were scoreless for the first 83 minutes, but the Bruins scored the only goal of the game with 7 minutes to play to win 1-0.

Cats tie Washington State 0-0. They are now 6-6-3 with three games left. If they can go 2-1, they should have a legitimate shot at making the postseason.

They're a low-scoring team, but they seem to all have strong fundamentals and grit. And they seem better conditioned than most teams they play. The opposition seems to get frustrated late against them, not because they do anything wrong, but because they're still there, they don't fade, and they play tough for the full 90 minutes. It would be great for Becca Moros and the rest of the gals if they could scratch their way into the NCAAs.

Have the Oregon schools coming this week. Both have losing records so we should be favored. We have lost though to teams we should beat though.

ASSU has played very well and we close at their place. That could be a game where if we win it would be tough to keep us out
