As I am pretty much ignorant of most things rugby....is it safe to assume that a 114 to 0 score doesn't happen very often?

I've seen some pretty lopsided scores usually involving Cal crushing someone.

In the 7's World Cup, teams like New Zealand, Australia, and Tonga regularly beat some poor sister by that kind of score.

Rugby 7's is designed for offense and scoring, not so much defense.

Edit: I take it back. I have seen big scores like that but perhaps not at World Cup. At the last World Cup (held in USA) Jamaica was beaten 50-0 by France and 52-7 by Papua New Guinea. Perhaps I saw that lopsided score in the Commonwealth Games. Dunno.

FYI Round 5 of the Rugby 7s World Series will be played in Las Vegas from the 1st to the 3rd of March. USA is currently tied for first place with New Zealand! HSBC SEVENS SERIES ROUNDS

WOAH, looks like we're finally putting out some good rugby players in 7's. Or our guys are getting experienced and covering up holes in their games. Other than Madison Hughes (who was raised in England), I don't think we've really had a lot of good rugby players on the team. Carlin Isles and Perry Baker are very fast, but not very well-rounded (and not good at tackling).

Beating South Africa, then New Zealand, then blanking Samoa is VERY impressive.

So, what was the change? Was there a coaching change or a change in USA Rugby?

I imagine there's a big change in that our players are all professionals now.

Major League Rugby just started, which will open us up to more Sevens talent.

Arguably our best player, Perry Baker, has just gotten better and better. Former sprinter from Florida, has really filled out and become a better Rugby player. Now it's not only Madison Hughes (a London born-and-raised rugby player) that's a good rugby player on the USA team.

Life just beat Cal for the D1A Championship.
