Especially when you can't even wear it right. Recall lots of Stoops doing this while at the UA.

Personally I like visors but look terrible in them.

It’s like being allergic to chocolate. Why did God forsake me!?!?

Freeform (formerly ABC Family?) has the strangest mix of programming - Jerry Falwell's nightly, very evangelical news show, featuring live prayers for healing, is sandwiched between very un-evangelical programming such as Harry Potter marathons, shows about teens (and their parents!) discovering alternative sexualities, and your typical late-90s/early-2000s raunchy comedies. And in the very early mornings biblical sermons are broadcasted.

Very surprised Fallwell hasn't up and relocated somewhere else like Newsmax TV (if that's still a thing) or OANN. And equally surprised Freeform hasn't moved on from its evangelical programming.

I'm paying someone else to fix my roof and ac and pool, paint the house, install flooring and more. Why did I build patio furniture by myself today?

Have drugs evolved to as bad as they're going to get?

Asking because in both Portland and San Diego I share neighborhoods with many drug addicts and we just had another OD last weekend, presumably Fetanyl, which most of the addicts I know steer clear of, even through their worst comedowns.

80s had crack & heroin, 90s brought meth, 2000s increased prescription painkiller abuse - and aside from all that so many more people are recreationally using coke, ecstasy, percocets, adderall, and xanax that I don't even know where we go from here.

If there was a drug that got you high as a kite for 30 minutes but the side effect was that your face would fall off, you'd find at least a few people who would be like "YOLO"...

I mean, PCP literally makes you run naked through the streets stabbing people with a shard of broken glass and I know a guy still who sprinkles it on his weed.

My wife went to go see The Shape of Water with one her older girlfriends. When the woman in the movie did the bathtub seen her friend got up and made her leave.

I told my wife: "Aw come on, everyone knows that women masturbate in the bath tub". Apparently her friend is the only one that does not.

Think of Pleasantville, and the bathtub scene where the movie finally had color.

Wtf happened to me. Ever since I bought this house I've been consumed with thoughts of scheduling maintenance, changing filters, updating fixtures, pulling weeds etc. I'm 34 and is this the less than eternal precipice of middle age?

I feel like I need a spreadsheet to tell me what needs checking or maintenance every week/month/quarter/biannually/year/2 years/5 years.

Yet in this hellish time of corona/trump/climate change it gives me some serene calmness.

Long overdue question - can someone provide interpretation on TV ratings? When 60 Minutes gets a 1.3 "rating" that's a percentage? A percentage based on what? A projection of TVs turned on? And how does the rating translate to "millions of viewers?" Is it a simple conversion or based a formula containing inputs that change based on projections? Big thanks in advance.

It’s a percentage of an estimated number of households with their TVs on at that time.

So Nielsen will say that in Primetime on Thursday there are an estimated 80 million televisions turned on and from their set top data about 4% of them were tuned to Thursday Night Football.

It’s a vague extrapolation based on a vague estimation, and yet somehow it is still the metric whereby it is determined how hundreds of billions of dollars are spent. Even though it can’t tell you who was watching or even if someone was in the room and paying attention. Nor can it account for people who watch things pretty much any way except through traditional cable or over-the-air antennas. It’s basically like trying to guess the intensity of a hurricane by sticking your finger in the air after licking it.

Anyone else have this happen before 40?

International news media WASTES way too much attention on U.S. news. And as someone who actively follows UK news, their publications are the worst offenders. BBC International's broadcasts are really just half-hour roundups of the lead U.S. stories. The Guardian's default homepage is for its U.S. edition; you have to click the upper-right drop down menu and select "UK Edition" to follow the current British news. And the Daily Mail's homepage prominently features a "U.S. Showbiz" tab. Are we Americans really that interesting to the rest of the world? In a train wreck sort of way?

Yes. More specifically in a “we gave a certifiable idiot and madman the unlimited ability to nuke anyone and anything at any time for no reason whatsoever so how are we going to top THAT for unbridled lunacy” sort of way.

Now that I live in a nicer house with a real washer and dryer indoors and a brand new king sized hybrid memory foam bed with down pillows and a comforter...

There's nothing quite like getting into a freshly made bed. Especially in the winter.
