Something similar happened to me on a flight from Melbourne to San Francisco. The Melbourne to Sydney flight was 4 hours late due to fog and we had to catch the bus from the domestic terminal to the international terminal in Sydney and run through security. They had everything all cleared for the 20 or so of us that were making this connection - special bus waiting, baggage transfer done magically (we usually have to collect it in Sydney and carry it with us to international - this time we just had to identify it and they verified it and took it away). They literally slammed the door and started backing out as soon as I got on the plane - before we had gotten to our seats. Pity I picked just that instant to realize I left my hat in the security scanning basket on the way through.

We were in the states for about a month, and my hat was in lost and found when we got back. They were literally going to throw it away the day before, but they decided that since I had a phone number in it I probably wanted it back. They phoned me like 2 minutes after I swapped out the SIM card on my phone in SFO - but I didn't answer. She set the hat aside, and hadn't got around to throwing it out when I showed up the next day.

By comparison here is my experience with an American airline on the way to Cancun. We were flying from Tucson to Austin for a connecting flight on our way to Cancun, our plan got diverted to Brownsville for an hour due to severe weather in Austin and the entire time we were ensured by the crew we they would hold the flight. There were no less then 9 other on the same connecting flight. We were finally able to land in Austin 15 minutes before our flight which we are still being told we can make with out issue, we get out and see our gate is the next gate over, great luck right? Wrong! We run to the gate to get on and are told, sorry the gate is closed and they are not taking any more passengers as the plane sits there still at the gate with a handful of disgruntled passengers wondering why the hell they can't just open the damn doors.

I'm going full LegallyKenny and upgrading to economy plus on all my flights. I'm a state employee, so it's coming out of my own miles or finances, but I'm done with all the serial masturbators. Find me at the front of the plane closer to the first class compartment. I'm the guy with the three extra inches of leg room. There will be no bearing my haughty looks.

Let me get this straight: If I'm on a flight and I go to the lavatory and take a dump, except I fail to remember to actually make my way to the lavatory, is there anything that would "happen" if I just take a dump in seat 11F?

So can I get paid for all the research, teaching prep, and service I do from May 15 through August 14? Or do I have to keep working those three months for no pay?

Speaking of, I once had the woman sitting on the other side of the aisle take off her shoes and start filing her foot calluses mid-flight.

Words were exchanged.

Did those words include, "I want to breathe in the dead skin powder from your foot as much as you'd like to eat my chest hair omelette"?

The only difference between us and the orangutang is that when the airplane lavatories are occupied, the orangutang just shits in his seat.

But he happily wears his mask if asked, and he never punches the teeth out of a flight attendant's mouth.

A friend of mine is a flight attendant. Yesterday, she had a passenger "shit all over the front lav." She was the only FA on board with the stomach to clean it up (she's a parent, after all). Why did she have to clean it up and not just close it down, you ask? Because the pilot had to potty and he wouldn't go in the shat upon lav and he is not allowed to walk back through the aircraft in flight. I did not ask her for more details, but that is one rough type of other duties as assigned.

Not too surprisingly, she works for Spirit.

Southwest Airline with a major meltdown today stranding 1000’s of passengers across the country. Wasn’t weather related and seems to be computer driven. Reminder to self, short LUV tomorrow morning

This isn’t the first recent time this has happened w/ Southwest. In October of last year my Southwest flight from Atlanta was abruptly cancelled hours before takeoff. When I tried rebooking the soonest subsequent flight out was THREE DAYS later. I do not at all regret ponying up the $400 it take to book the last minute Delta flight for the same route. Southwest cancelled 1800 flights that weekend, blaming “staffing and weather.”

This time around, though, it looks like the Department of Transportation is taking notice:

When plans get back online let me know if you want recommendations for restaurants and stuff. We lived in downtown SA for 5 years and loved it.

Almost bumped this thread to ask options on SW. I was supposed to fly from NOLA to DC Sunday. Flight was 4 hrs delayed to just randomly get canceled with 0 notification. Baggage claim was an absolute mess. Booked AA next day at 555 in the morning and my bag is stuck in NOLA somewhere. Was never a big fan of SW now I'm completely done. Really unacceptable how this situation has gone down.
