You broke the standing nap barrier while operating expensive equipment. You don't need a designated day. Your naps own whatever day you want.

Think our country would really benefit from having an hour each workday designated for naps, meditation, beating off, whatever.

My back is slowly getting worse so just got some muscle relaxers and pain meds from my doc.

Took a glorious 2 hour pharma nap today. Love Sundays.

The first three words of that article are "Association of napping", so for a second there I thought it was about us.

Maybe part of the explanation is that napping re-sets your blood pressure to its lowest values. But we can't apply that to Nap League, where Salty was under such pressure to out-nap anyone that he complained about the rules.

I cannot put into words how happy I was when I saw this thread pop up again!

I have not taken a nap in over a month. My life is hell.

NASA actually performed a nap study. Their findings:

NASA's research showed that naps really can fully restore cognitive function at the same rate as a full night's sleep. The space agency found that pilots who slept in the cockpit for 26 minutes showed alertness improvements of up to 54% and job-performance improvements by 34%, compared to pilots who didn't nap

Not doubting the science at all, but it has never worked for me. Maybe I'm not old enough to appreciate it or exhausted enough from kids. I've taken maybe a dozen naps in the last 20 years and they always left me feeling groggy and stupified and even more tired.

There are whole countries based on this concept. So don’t start taking credit just yet... ;)

I typically take a 15-20 minute nap at lunch time and its day-altering. Anything over like 45 minutes is where things get groggy and disgusting.

Once you get past an hour (unless you’ve gone without sleep for a long time) a nap is counterproductive.

Start your nap during daylight and wake up after the sun goes down and you’ve just ruined your entire week.

when that happens your brain is confused for hours and you feel hungover and disoriented like you just travelled through time or something

Sounds like some skeptics here are candidates for the caffeine nap, where you drink a coffee, go to sleep, and get woken up by the caffeine kicking in 20-30 minutes later. I've only tried it once that I can remember, and that one time I was the most engaged, insightful, and articulate gentleman you've ever met in a bar on a weekday mid-afternoon.

Woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep so I’m about to siesta for an hour or so.

Wish me luck.

I was a never-napper my entire life until I had a kid. Now I take one every day off from like noon-1/2ish. I wish I could on work days.
