Well that does it. DBX is the nicest airport I've ever been in. Fast efficient clean looks like ceasers palace in Vegas.

Sfo looks pretty but it's incredibly overpriced with mediocre food, no real great places to sleep, you have to exit and re enter security which is always a nightmare (think Miami security). When the Marine Layer shuts down a runaway which is like 80% in the summer, the terminals are a zoo.

With the support pig it truly is one.

Ohare, well let's just say I try to limit my time in transit there and will avoid it in favor of Dallas if connecting to the east coast.

Was delayed 4:30 hours flying out of SD and into SFO last Thursday night. Was delayed 5 hours flying out of SFO and into SD Monday afternoon. 9:30 hours of delays for 2 hours of a round-trip flight.

Go shit on yourself SFO.

Flew from Idaho Falls (IDA) and it's the smallest commercial service Airport I've used. Only two gates and two year round connections - Salt Lake City and Denver.

I think is this a fair list. And LaGuardia appropriately at the bottom with Newark.

DIA’s distance from downtown does suck however. And SFO should be a bit higher but fog delays probably killed them.

I hate the Phoenix airport. If you have to walk between the different terminals, it is a long fucking walk. Also, picking people up there sucks, if you miss your turn, it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to get back where you need to be

You are doing it completely wrong. With the bus service and now sky train you can go from terminal to terminal in about two minutes max. Also there are several turn locations so if you miss your turn you can get back to where you were in 3 minutes max

Location is great for sure
Good domestic airport, but for a metro area it’s size it sucks for any Long haul international flights. You have to connect in lax sfo Dallas chicago or Atlanta. Canada Mexico/Central America arnt long haul.
Terminal four security is terrible during mornings and evenings
Food options are ok, but not great and certainly not in the same league as sfo, Atlanta, new DFW post remodel, Portland.

Again it’s a good domestic airport, but not the best and barely considered international

Phoenix has 22 international flights, 2 in Europe. It's not Phoenix's fault that other airports are international hubs. For domestic flights it about as good of an airport as there is. Minimal delays hear round.

Lufthansa flight has been there for ages. Lots of Germans with socks and sandals going to the Grand Canyon.

Airports related, but a little more abstract - For those of you who haven't heard of the Essential Air Service (EAS) it's a federally subsidized program ensuring commercial service to rural communities. It's how remote towns in west Nebraska, like McCook, Alliance, and Chadron (with populations of no more than 10,000) keep direct flights to Denver afloat. Arizona has Page, Prescott, and Show Low on the list. Anyway my newest find on Wikipedia is their tabulation of EAS served cities (and their connecting Hubs).

Anyone one ever flown from Toronto-Pearson (YYZ)? Three hours to get through security, albeit partly due to also checking through the U.S. Customs if bound for the U.S, but still. Arrived 430AM and didn't make it to gate until 8AM flight to Chicago was already boarding. Going through Toronto again in April and making sure to schedule a departure for late in the day.

Tim Hortons is like a Beatles concert at Shea Stadium. Packed with screaming fans going wild for the most mediocre offerings you've ever encountered. Whenever a place is just out of hand with too many people, I say "It's like a Tim Hortons in here."

Since transitioning back West over the course of last year, Denver is now my most common layover (as opposed to Atlanta the year before). Anyone with experience originating a flight from Denver? The TSA lines are enormous - but is that because security check-ins are done from the large centralized space inside the public transportation platform rather than spread out across each terminal? And more uniquely, Denver appears the only U.S. airport where the K-9 walk abouts aren't random. Before reaching the TSA counters posted at the scanners, all foot traffic is walked, two by two, through a wide lane past the noses of one to two "drug detection dogs" being paced about by another layer of TSA agents. My guess as to why goes back to whether Colorado's marijuana tourism necessitated the extra search?

Given just how many flights Toronto has direct into America, 40(?), it makes perfect sense to pre-clear the incoming foot traffic through Customs, especially considering that Toronto is the only international non-stop for certain destinations such as Columbus OH and Indianapolis, meaning they wouldn't otherwise need Customs except for Toronto.

My big problem is how long the waits are through US Customs at Toronto. For this latest trip (last Sunday), I arrived to the airport at 330AM, bags checked by 4AM, line through TSA & Customs already building, 3 hours later passport finally stamped just as 725AM flight begins boarding. Toronto is consistently and by far the longest Customs wait I go through, which stands out given how much faster Customs is at the more disorganized New York Airports.

And yes, Longhorned, noticed that too: the Toronto's INT terminal is higher class compared to the different terminal (1) where they centralize all the flights into America. Man, Canadians love Tim Horton's. If anything, you'll learn what a double-double is.

First time in Portland's airport yesterday. Terminals without the typical warehouse-y atmosphere due to their openness and expansive sun roof, which works for the sunny days the Northwest less commonly receives. Not sure how much improvement a sunroof gives to those endless days of drizzle.

Back in Portland earlier this month; flew out two nights ago, and I gotta say, watching locally filmed short documentaries in the mini-theater of Portland's main terminal is the most relaxing airport wait ever:
