Good things about this:

1. The semi driver gets to use the HOV lane.
2. Will probably cut down on tailgating.

From Season 2:

"You didn't finish school, did you, Mr. Dean? It's not the liquid that burns, it's the fumes. Now, look, normally, I would've just shot you myself the second you pulled, but I am doing my level best to avoid the paperwork and the self-recrimination that comes with it, although the lord knows you're the kind that makes it worth it more. Come on, Jimmy, can't we just try to end this without you turning yourself into the human torch?"

Things being as they are, and men being as dumb as they are, in the end some chick rewarded this moron with sex for having done it, and he thought it was worth it.

Haha, hate to laugh, but that is a huge problem in the Cali Central Coast with perps stealing cat converters constantly, usually off Prius.

Good grief. I was gonna say something like
All up a dollars worth maybe? Worth dying for? Insanity.
But then I looked up scrap prices. $70 to $2000 dollars or more depending on size, shape, etc. That's insane.

But still not worth dying for. Of course most don't die or get caught. But its still insane.

And "no questions asked" scrap dealers should be prosecuted just like shady pawn shops for receiving stolen goods. Apparently some scrap dealers ask for serial numbers, but do they all have serial numbers yet?

Ha, just opened my email and someone on Nextdoor is complaining that their catalytic converter was stolen off their RV. Crazy times. It reminds me of when I was a little league coach and we had to worry about the copper wiring used for all the lights. WE would show up to the field and all the wiring would be gone and we couldn't play and it was thousands of dollars to replace. aholes!

Copper! Reminds me, there was an ancient abandoned stretch of power lines running by an old ghost town out in the middle of nowhere Montana where we lived during my hippie days. One drunken afternoon I shinnied up one of the poles to steal some beautiful enormous antique glass insulators, still have them. Noticed the power line was 1/2" braided copper wire. Sold 4 pickup bed loads of the stuff in Butte that week. Bought a lot of Rainier beer. Ah, the wild days ......

Two piece units, about 13"-14" tall. Magnificent. Had to have them.

Be careful what you wish for. Anyway, it seemed appropriate to admit such acts of stupidity on the Darwin thread.

Stupid people killing themselves in stupid ways happens all the time and is not worthy of more than a passing mention.

Darwin Awards are for those enterprising good Samaritans who chose to remove their stupid genes from the human gene pool in spectacular fashion.

If they have reproduced, they are not eligible because they have passed those genes on already.

Its an award for outstanding contribution to evolution. You dont give an Oscar to the third spear carrier in the Community Players performance of Ben Hur.
