I actually attended his only SB victory against the Vikings at the Rose Bowl.

Didn’t have tickets but scalped a pair for $25 each and my Brother and I waltzed right in and attended a SB. Boy have times changed. Lol.

Was just talking about him a couple days ago. He coached at Alan Hancock JC where my 3 kids went, along at Cal Poly where I worked for many years.

Don't think he ever came back, but where my office was used to be the old football offices, and Madden had an office a couple offices down. Once in while an old football player would walk through the offices.

Met his wife at Harry's in Pismo, which has a painting of them out front.

But never heard about them ever coming back to the central coast.

What will get lost today might be the death that has gutted me the most which was Jeff Dickerson’s. A guy my age (44) who was literally the best, hardest working, and most generous sports reporter in Chicago.

He lost his wife to cancer a little over a year ago and now he has passed away from cancer as well, leaving their little boy an orphan. I’m typing this in tears.

That's just awful. The chances of two non-blood relatives dying of cancer at such young ages must be astronomical. Could there be anything environmental involved?

Tragically, Jeff and Caitlin Dickerson have an 11-year-old son, Parker without both of his parents. Bears writer and podcaster Jacob Infante said on Twitter: ‘My heart breaks for his [Dickerson’s] 11-year-old son, who lost both parents to cancer in the span of 2 years. Incredibly tragic situation.’

Jeff is also reportedly survived by his parents, George and Sandy Dickerson.

I really don't like this thread...

Can still remember TD passes thrown by Joe Willie to Maynard and Sauer on the dirt infield at Shea.

Just shows that clinical depression can reach just about everyone, no matter how pretty and smart you are and how bright your star shines.

When my oldest son survived a suicide attempt, it was amazing to me how many reached out to me about their own stories. One of my friends told me that his wife had to clean up her brother's suicide with a gun in his car. I would have just burned it or driven it off a cliff. Who could do that to his sibling?

I used to subscribe to the National Lampoon magazine back in the 1970's before they started making movies.

One of my favorite articles was written by him, and remember it a bit. It was called "My Vagina" or something like that when a teen boy woke up and found out he had a vagina instead of a penis. All I remember is a funny bit about trying to insert a tampon, along with the vibrations on riding a motorcycle.

Katie dies of suicide. Looks like she faced possible Stanford discipline before suicide. Steve Meyer said his daughter previously defended a teammate on campus during an unspecified incident and the potential discipline she faced may have weighed heavily on her, https://nypost.com/2022/03/04/katie-mey ... rents-say/

There was a girl from the high school I attended in New Jersey named Madison Holleran. She had everything going for her but committed suicide while a student-athlete at Penn. Things might look great on the outside, but we sure don't know what is going on in the heads of these athletes. That is why I hate reading posts by fans saying so and so sucks and should not be playing. Many of these student-athletes read message boards and it definitely could affect them mentally. People need to remember we are dealing with kids who are 18-21 years-old. We should all think before we write something negative.

Its incredibly hard to think of anything to say when you hear things like that. It’s just too awful to contemplate, and I feel so so terrible that she thought even one time that the world would be a better place without her in it.
