The "what year is it?" idea is hilarious, but small planes always scare me. Meanwhile, other than the FAA approving "door plugs" and the like on 767s, a big plane now is about like an autonomous city bus, as they've added all kinds of redundacies and protocols over the years. For contrast, I remember working in the media in the 70s. We liked the national buys from the airlines, because their commercials were so good, with Rhapsody in Blue for United and so forth. But there were so many plane crashes somewhere in the world every week or two that there was a rule about immediately pulling them if a crash was reported. You didn't want tragic news followed by somebody's care-free happy little jingle. So, at least in that regard, now is better.
