Uncooked onion lasts as long in the mouth/stomach as a shot of unleaded gasoline. Cooked onion forms the basis of the possibility of human civilization.

That’s why I don’t like In&Out. First time I tried it I bit into half a raw onion and that’s all I tasted the rest of the day. Apparently I didn’t know the secret handshake to get them to make my burger edible.
Doesn't animal style take care of that?

I order everything without raw onion. If you give me raw onion I kill you.

I want cooked onion with everything. If I don't get it I starve.

It's a thing. For both our sakes let's not be like the US Senate. Let's figure this out.

Grilled onions are good on burgers, that's what got me hooked on Habit, but at home, the sliced sweet onions raw are the best.

Raw sweet onions are just horseshit with syrup.

Actually, outside the burger universe there is one limited redemption for raw onion, but it's sort of onion ceviche. My eldest Aunt used to make pickled refrigerator onion/cucumber in the West Texas tradition. Paired with Pall Mall straights, sourmash, and medium rare T-Bones it's a good memory.

The only raw exception I have with onions is I do really enjoy a spicy red onion in a salad or on a burger. Otherwise, grilled or nothing!

I don’t know how you can eat the delicate sweetness of a sautéed onion and then later eat it raw knowing that 20 minutes over a medium flame will have you right back there in heaven.

I made a French onion soup reduction that I poured over a baked pork chop that was covered in melted provolone and it might have been one of the three best things I’ve ever eaten.

Fuck raw onions.

I’m not opposed to onions, I just feel like they stay with me for hours. Carmelized onions on burgers is amazing. Especially if it has a fried egg on it too.

I hated onions as a kid (same with mushrooms) now I can't go without them as an adult.
Gimme a cheeseburger with sauteed onions and mushrooms and I am in heaven.

And yes, shout out to grilled onions, too. If you went to a tavern in ancient Babylon, you'd order a beer and a plate of grilled onions with flatbread.

Also, onion jam, where you sauté the onions until they fully caramelize. Put that in a jar in the fridge and add to literally anything.

Took the Boyo on another stop of Tucson burg tour before he heads back East for school.

Ghini’s burg of the month was tasty. Not fast food, but a very good bacon cheeseburg with guac. Next month they have a Blue Cheese Burg, we’ll be back for that one!

I finally went to Del Taco 3 days ago for the first time ever since my son told me they use real chicken in the street tacos like El Pollo Loco does. I haven't been to Taco Bell in years since I don't recognize the meat. Taco Bell to me is like Subway, where I won't eat either, since all the meats are processed.

Now Taco Bell is going to ruin Del Taco.

Del Taco is way better than Taco Bell, and almost as good as a can of Hormel chili poured into a bag of Doritos.

I miss Del Taco. Haven’t had it since I was 11, but for some reason their quesadillas are implanted in my memory as being quite delicious.

Fast food memories are slippery. I pulled into a McDonalds drive-thru on Saturday because I was thirsty and irritable and didn't want to bother stopping at a Circle K and negotiating a parking lot tax with the hobo on duty. I wanted a tub-sized plastic cup of Diet Coke, support for despicable politics and inhumane labor practices be damned. The lines of cars in the drive-thru were tremendous, even though it was 3:00 in the afternoon. I looked around at the fellow drivers and everyone looked like they had type-14 diabetes. 40 minutes later I finally got to the window to pick up my order, and I sat there for another half hour waiting for them to hand me a freaking drink. I pulled out of the play castle area feeling raped by the experience.

I'll ask her. She'll tell me without hesitation, then ask why, then ask me to show her this thread, and then she'll write some notes on her legal pad for five minutes with a matter-of-fact expression and then say, "I'm afraid we're all out of time for today." I'll spend the next week worrying about her next line of questioning.
