I really like Bachi Burger in Vegas. A little overpriced, but what isn't there?

Fatburger for the chains wins hands down. For the massive chains, Wendy's double, though I couldn't care less about frozen vs fresh. McDonalds serves it purpose as a dirt-cheap burger that holds all its contents (because it has few) when eating on the road. But, not a favorite.

Five Guys is good, not great. I like almost any burger, but the Five Guys pricetag is ridiculous. Just stop giving away more fries than the biggest glutton could eat and cut your margin.

I really like Smashburger, but probably for the flavor of everything else in the burger. The meat is...meat.
The Vegas prices thing is so odd to me. I grew up there, and if there were one advantage (and there weren't many), it was that eating out was dirt cheap. This was not limited to buffets. Steak or prime rib for about the same as a burger in the burbs. The key was to eat and leave.

Looking back, I'd like the thank The Mob for its business model.
Right where I want to be.

I do miss those days, though I only caught the tail end of it. But they figured out that people will pay AND gamble. No more need to lure them in just to gamble. Loss leaders are simply not needed because money magically turns into something different when you cross the NV border. It doesn't turn back into money until after you leave. While there, it is just a magic, ephemeral spirit that flows from your wallet for experiences shallow and deep...and a burger.

Umami started a bit of a craze here in LA but was quickly surpassed by superior options (in my opinion). It's still hanging around and still perfectly good, though.

I gave Five Guys in Westwood another a third chance the other day for whatever reason. It won't be getting a fourth.
History says, Don't hope

But then, once in a lifetime
The longed-for tidal wave
Of justice can rise up

The Blake's that opened in Tucson has thoroughly mediocre reviews. Has caused me to avoid going so far. Reviews are that it's a boring, standard, barely above McDonald's level burger with green chilies thrown on.

I hear they are putting one in the Food Court at the Union.

I used to stop every now and then around St. Louis and I remember it being OK.

Blake's is the original, standard, old-time Green Chiile burger (along with the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM). While their burgers are not the best in today's market, they do bring back fond memories, etc. (And, to compare them to McDonald's is bizarre)...

There are better Green Chile Burgers throughout NM, but not in franchises....

I like their mushroom burger. They were my favorite in Phoenix until Shake Shack arrived. They have 3 different kinds of peppers you can put on your burger in the condiment area. I definitely like them better than In-N-Out and Five Guys.

Hell yes. You never know how well something will travel but Habbit has always been my go-to craving, comfort-food favorite. In style, it's what In-n-Out would be if it weren't a chain. I don't know what that means now that Habbit is a chain.

Kewpee - if you ever find yourself in or near Lima, Ohio. Very small chain that has been around for about a century.

Hey Tucson peeps:

http://tucson.com/entertainment/this-ch ... aign=share" target="_blank

Tucson's two Hamburger Stand locations will be celebrating the chain's 35th anniversary with 35-cent hamburgers this Sunday, October 8.

Line up any time between noon and 5 p.m. at 625 W. Ajo Way and 1710 W. Valencia Road, and you'll have the opportunity to buy up to 5 burgers per customer for 35 cents apiece.

The offer will be valid until supplies run out.

Had a little bit of time to kill this afternoon around the Biltmore area. Found a little hole in the wall place on 16th St South of Camelback Rd called Harvey's Wineburger. Arguably the best burger I've ever had.

A no nonsense burger for sure. Patty, bun, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The patty was thick and juicy and spiced just right.

simpler is often better when it comes to classics like that if you ask me. nice cheap looking bun too. make the patty right and cook it right and that's 90% of what makes it good.

Yeah just in the last couple years there have been like 4 fancier burger joints that have opened on top of the existing ones. Fuddruckers sucked anyways but it had no chance against Graze, Smash Burger, Habit Burger, Zinburger and Truland Burgers all existing.

KVOA had an article on their FB page about Fudds closing. So many comments lamenting the 'loss of a Tucson icon'...WTF? A mediocre franchise whose claim to fame in modern pop culture is Buttfuckers as seen on Idiocracy is a "Tucson Icon". Some people need to get out more.

Seriously Tucson is a UNESCO recognized World gastronomic City with tons of amazing restaurants yet so many people in this town think the fancy good restaurants to go to are Fuddruckers, Olive Garden and Chili's.

I love white castle. They were in Phoenix in the like 70s and 80s I think. Growing up in the 90s I remember seeing an abandoned old white castle building in the ghetto part of West Mesa. Hope it comes to Tucson.

Not sure why the article says it's their first location west of the Mississippi when they absolutely had stores in Phoenix back in the day.
