Lots of good times at the Foothills Mall. Taking younger jr high siblings to watch Ratatouille, Iron Man, and WALL-E. Sharing beers with fellow enlisted buddies at Thunder Canyon Brewery. Reading books, sipping coffee, and buying the College Football annual previews at the Barnes and Nobles. Finishing Community College homework at the food court. All the Emo teenagers hopelessly fashioning themselves after My Chemical Romance. Testing out the Guitar Hero demo at the GameStop.

Ok, admittedly those are generic 2007 memories, but still…

Theater and bookstore to remain open and untouched for future business while demolition is underway for rest of Mall structure, which started back in February.

When we first moved to Tucson @ '97 that mall was still being filled in with vendors and Oracle was being widened out to N. 1st. Death at age 25. That's a pretty quick cycle. Malls, another Boomer construct aging out.

I remember visiting the foothills mall for the first time in 2004 and it was already about 20-30% empty. I live like 5 mins away from there now.

It was a dead mall in the early 90’s. Just a few stores and AMC.

Bob’s outdoor store was a highlight. They lost their ass on the Foothills play and they had to close the Grant and Country Club original location that had two buildings.

It reopened in 98, IIRC after the redevelopment. It was great for a while. The I-10 and Twin Peaks development stole all of their tenants. It’s close to 50% vacancy now.

There was a Gavi's at the FH mall for a while. Killer beef and cheese ravioli Bolognese. Never got into Thunder Canyon brewery. Other than that the AMC/Lowes and the Ross were about all we hit up.

I rarely spend any time in the NW part of town

I’ve lived in Tucson since ‘92 and I only went to Foothills Mall 1 time

My dad and two brothers live on the eastside of town, Harrison/Houghton Broadway/Speedway areas.

They rarely go a mile or two from their homes. Everything is right there.

Around 1982 I had a friend who lived off of Ina/Thornydale. I loved how remote and green it was. The only commercial property was a 7/11 on that intersection. But right after that it exploded. Had a college professor who told us what a mint the owner of the 7/11 made when he sold just before it all happened.

Ah dang I knew it was only a matter of time before it fully closed. Even 15 years ago when I hung out there a lot that mall was almost half empty. There will still be the detached few restaurants and Starbucks and Walmart and the movie theater and Barnes and Noble though I guess. Don't have any malls within 2 hours of where I live now, have to drive to Las Cruces or El Paso or Albuquerque for that.

Yea all the neighborhoods here and shopping centers were built around 1978-1983 ish. I've seen aerial photos from about 1979 when my house was just built and it's crazy.

Urban Dictionary: Edgar
May 17, 2022a middle/high-school latino boy, who typically wears nike-jordans, sags his jeans, has a bowl-cut/mushroom-cut, and often says the n-word.

The kid who got bitch slapped by Ray Smith kinda-sorta-but-not-really had the haircut kinda.

Just be be clear with the facts:

ABOR had made it clear there will be no overnight encampments at any of the 3 Universities

Protesters were told Monday night that arrests will be made after 10:30pm... many warnings were given- everyone dispersed peacefully Monday without any Police action

Tuesday night- Protesters were told the same... that arrests would be made after 10:30 pm. Last night- they decided not to comply. Many, many, many warnings were given... way past the 10:30pm deadline.

It was not until after 2am that any police action was taken.

You can have whatever opinion you want... but this is all 100% fact

So anybody have the latest on the party shooting that killed a soccer player and wounded a football player?

What football player? Is this being swept under the rug?

Also a fact that protests against genocide need to happen, no matter the warnings and consequences from the police state
