One day I'm going to tell my kids just how fucking cool I was . . . and they're still going to think I'm lame. Which is so essentially perfect.

Residence Inn's are dangerous, because the rooms are big, have a kitchen, a living space, and a bed.

I can drink inside and strut around in my underwear like at home.

Almost forgot to put on pants to go down to get another beer from the market cafe at the front desk.

The words to the Louisville fight song should be replaced with:

They're the stinkiest of Cardinals,
They're the stinkiest bird,
It's a stink that stinks so much,
It's smelled, seen, felt, and heard.

Damn, my mother-in-law owned so much redundant sh*t.

Five hedge clippers, three ignitors, curtain rods in the hundreds, the same damn area rug in two rooms, kind of creepy collections of plastic detergent measuring cups and water bottle lids--yet STILL watched the SAME CRT TV right up until the day she died six weeks ago?

I've never heard of, much less moved, so many possessions out of a 700-square-foot manufactured home. No home should ever house china sets in the double digits.

RIP Clara, but you're the reason we went from parking one car behind the other in our garage to setting that as a September goal after four or five yard sales. Jesus...

I grew up with many of those. Had several chemistry sets, along with a lead melting kit. Made all kinds of lead soldiers. Used to melt down the lead weights from tires.

Also had wood burning kits too. One of my chemistry sets even had a radium sample. Back then glow in the dark watches used radium.

My Daisy b-b gun was probably the most dangerous though. Lawn Darts too I imagine.

Had a few burns from Creepy Crawlers too.

I had a wood-burning set, but wasn't much interested.

When the switch to my electric football game broke, I just took it apart and would touch the ends of the wires to make it go. Shocked myself all the time, but it didn't stop me from playing.

Sometimes we'd play mumblety-peg or stretch with pocket knives.

I was partial to pea shooters, sling-shots and water pistols in between my orange-fight frays in East Tucson with the buds. Would sneak into El Encanto, load up, and get out fast to start the action somewhere.

My intro to Tucson culture was Country Swing at Stumble Inn and orange fights with the next door frat. Loaded up at Himmel Park after scouring the Sam Hughes Neighborhood.

I had rock fights on the playground with kids on our humongous playground growing up (thing was like 6 acres). we would hide behind trees and drainage pipes and just throw rocks at each other. seemed fine at the time. and this was only 20 years ago.

Stumble Inn, Gumby? I heard they still talk about your moves at that place.

And oh yeah, Himmel park and the Sam Hughes lawn for orange fights. Himmel was good place to throw, and there were lots of places behind the pool building, fence and playground stuff to play D.

Down Tucson Blvd at the Speedway intersection was a great bakery. When I was 10-12 my buds and I would head down at 8:45AM to the alley behind the bakery to meet up the van delivering morning goodies to the bakery, and while the driver was inside with a delivery hop in the back of the truck and.........

Yeah, ScumDev, rocks were great too. Best one I ever caught was square on my forehead. Lots of blood. When someone asks about the scar I just say "Defending my country is tough, but someone has to do it.." Just kidding.

Himmel Park is the first place where I got the wind knocked out of me when I was a kid. Running through the park, they have these sort of dips which I didn't see and wham, fell down and couldn't breathe. Thought I was dying.

Didn't Himmel park have a locomotive you could climb on? Eventually they put a fence around it. Or was that some other Tucson park?

Used to be parks had all kinds of left war equipment like tanks and jets you could climb on.

Besides all parks having these:

Used to bring my kids here when they were little to Monterey's Dennis the Menace park.

Love where this thread when today!

Rock fights, orange fights, golf ball bombing with the dickhead kids a few streets over and a 9 iron. (we lived on the Tempe Chandler border so we would constantly screw with Chandler, they'd call the cops, but we were protected by jurisdiction)

Most epic battles where
1) a variant of the rock fight...the dirt clod war of 1st grade. Eventually lead to about 20-30 kids a recess going to opposite ends of the field and heaving the hell of dirt clods at each other. It was awesome the tufts to dust that would smoke up when they landed.

2) 16 year olds with license to drive and boredom...gummy worming. A bag of gummy worms, would drive up next to unsuspecting cars and Twack...we;d lick and launch them at other cars. Extra points if you got it to stick. That lasted until one of my friends got chased down by some old military vet back to his house and almost got pummeled until his dad came out to keep the peace.

3) "Snowing" Take the pick up truck to the Tempe ice rink on McClintock, wait till the zamboni was done and dumped the ice out back. Would load up the back of the pickup truck with ice/snow and go and leave it on random high school peoples cars, outside peoples doors, down basements, etc etc.

Good times.

Every Tuesday at 11:00am we get a local test of the town tornado sirens and the emergency broadcast system.

If we ever were to have a tornado around mid-morning on a Tuesday, we'd all be fucked.

You don't need a reservation, you can download it straight from MSFT.

I am 3 out 4 machines so far. Can't figure out why the 4th won't install, keeps asking for a key.

Only 7 and above is free. No XP or Vista. Windows 7 Enterprise will also not be updated for free.

XP is totally unsupported now, and no updates will be provided by MSFT.

The 10 upgrade is only free for a year.

Country music is dead. Bro-Country and Metro-Politain Country is killing whatever is left in commercial country.

That "take your time" song and Keith Urban's "John Cougar, John Deere, and John 3:16" is pure tripe.

I've always thought of Urban as a mass produced fraud.
