Go To First New Post

When I click on the 'Go To First New Post' button for a thread it doesn't always take me to the first new post. Sometimes it take me to a post that was made many days ago. I find this often on threads where there are pictures or video embedded. Anybody else experience this?

Happens to me too, all the time, especially if I don't view a thread for a few days.

It takes you to the first new post since your last read post.

So if a couple of days and many posts pass, first new post will send you all the way back to the first post after your most recent participation, which will likely be in the middle of the conversation.

No. It often takes me back to posts I've already read.

Are the time stamps correct for you? Or are they wonky?

If you mean the date and/or time by the posters name then yes, they're fine.

I've had similar experience to azgreg's description. embedded items will often seem to "offset" the page to a wrong spot or even a wrong page, from where it "should" be based on my last visit.

Also, if your ignore list is featuring people in the thread, the same thing will happen. The ignored people seem to create some type of "offset" that contradicts where you should be going within a thread.

No biggie for me though, as I'd rather have the morons ignored and have to scroll down to the right spot.

This has recently begun happening to me, but only after reinstalling FireFox. It worked fine for years and then after the reinstall it's all wonky. Seems to affect heavy-traffic threads more than others.

Every thread I click takes me about halfway back up the page. Safari on iPad.

Same here, with Chrome on Windows. Have to scroll down to find the real first new post.

My cell with Samsung Internet browser does that. My laptop with Firefox does not.
