How the fuck do the Suns pass on Gary Harris for yet another point guard? I assume this means they're letting Bledsoe walk.

The 3rd 1st round pick was always going to be a Euro that was going to be stashed away. I'm hardly disgruntled about that pick, but the Tyler Ennis pick...

It's all three of them together that disappoints. But you never know how some of these guys will translate until they get a chance. Len, Goodwin, Warren, Ennis, Bogdanovic. Uninspiring.

Does Anderson have some baggage or something, I cannot understand why he has not been taken. Kid is talented. And oh how the mighty Carson has fallen. When the hometown team passes up that kind of talent, and he does have talent, you know it has to be an attitude problem.

Nick to the Spurs would be the stuff of dreams, I could see him fitting in well with Pop.

I like the Warren pick. I still like Goodwin's upside. The rest is uninspiring, I agree.

In spite of Kyle being slow he is going to turn out to be solid player and the Spurs once again show why they are the top organization. I think that is a very smart pick at 30.

I agree, he seems like he will fit very nicely in to Pop's system. They don't rely on speed, team ball, he can fit real nice there. I like this pick for the Spurs a lot.

They're acknowledging they've got nobody and going exclusively in building mode. If Embiid's health works out, he and Noel are a good, young 4/5 combo. I don't hate what they're doing, it just takes guts to suck for a few years, but at least they have something.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft

They have got some of the draft's best bargains the last few years:

Noel mocked #1, goes #6
MCW drafted in double digits, looks like future All-Star
Embiid mocked #1, goes #3
Saric mocked 9/10, goes 12 (plus they get other assets)
McDaniels mocked as high as 21, goes 2nd Round
Grant mocked 18-27 range, goes mid 2nd Round
Micic mocked 25-35 range, goes late 2nd Round

Those are some legit value selections.

Fling enough poop, something will stick.

Trust me, I get all of that . . . but outside of MCW there's not a lot of poop that has stuck so far. And I have no faith that Embiid will ever be 100% healthy. So there's a reason why he fell, and if you looked at a lot of the mocks right before the draft some had him falling into the 6-8 range. So then #3 becomes a reach (if we're just going by mock drafts by "experts").

A healthy Embiid was a consensus #1. It really depends on whether he's healthy. They got a steal if he's healthy. Injured, it's a bust.

Other than that, MCW is the only draft pick they've had who actually has been out there and he's sticking.

I like what Philly's doing because they aren't settling. Too many teams get stuck in the cycle of mediocrity, draft between 10-18 every year, squeeze into the playoffs sometimes and never get further. It's refreshing to see a team take the "go big or go home" tack.

It's all about asset acquisition right now.

They'll suck again next year, but end up with a top-3 in a solid draft, likely go for a true PG or SF.

Outside of not trying to acquire Hood, I think their draft was pretty perfect.

All this talk about drafting a guy who can help a team win a championship...who was the last player that won a championship with his original team. Dwayne Wade? I mean, nobody sticks with their original team anymore.

I mean, you need to get established NBA players to win in the league. No player from a draft is gonna make a team win. FA is what the NBA is all about.

Draft night is about getting your shot. It is really the only NBA thing I am interested in, and only because it is the loss of the age of innocence...the players I watched (well most of them) play in college, I will no longer be watching.
