Len actually looked…pleasantly competent. Small sample size, but so far so good with the Isaiah Thomas acquisition.

Len's +/- has been tremendous. He looks clumsy out there but his impact is definitely there

Isaiah Thomas role model = Damon Stoudamire.

If this Markieff and this Len are the frontline going forward, I think Suns can finish top-5.

That's a big "if" but I think a reasonable compromise is 17-8 for Markieff and 8-7 for Len.

Turd last night. Watched parts. Really bad defense. Offense hasn't clicked yet.

Watched them play a quality Memphis team that really plays defense and it lookedto me they really missed Frye spreading the floor.

Their spacing was an issue all night and watching little Isaiah go 1 on 1 got really boring

So Len had 19 points on 8-10 shooting and 7 rebounds in 29 minutes in a win at Boston?

I thought this guy was going to be a stiff? Didn't see the game - what's your take JMJ?

McDonough never thought Len was going to be a stiff. We're starting to see flashes of the potential the Suns saw when they drafted him so high. It would be awesome if he stays healthy and develops normally. That steal with the breakaway dunk was something to behold.

My issue with Len was never as much his upside as it was injury history (foot), and him that he didn't possess the defensive ability/upside of Noel.

Nothing he's doing now change this. But I'm glad he's developing. Definitely shows upside. Wish he was a legit shot blocker.

They are painfully close, have played a difficult schedule with many back-2-backs, several on road, and could easily be 8 games over .500, but are losing close games vs. good teams, many times in OT.

But to answer your question, they need a defensive big man. Willie Cauley-Stein would be nice. With Lakers now winning solidly, likelihood Suns get their lotto pick increases, plus their own lotto pick likely.

They are a piece or two and development away. I'd rather peak three years from now than now. Spurs won't last another two years, Mavs also, same with Thunder (or I doubt they will). Let age, free agency, and attrition thin out the field.

They have lost two games in the last week on bricked three pointers at the buzzer that bounced funny and went in - Heartbreak Hotel as Al McCoy would say.

The guys on KNST this morning were saying Sarver wants bond money to build a new arena.

http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/n ... /20566341/
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Earlier this year, Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver acknowledged the need and desire for the franchise to play in a new arena with eight years left on the US Airways Center lease.

Sarver also shared that sentiment with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently.

"I had this conversation with him just the other day," Silver said Wednesday night in Charlotte before the Suns-Hornets game. "I don't think it's imminent but, yes, over time, there's no question that what was once one of the very best buildings in the league is becoming older.

"They invested in a renovation there, the prior ownership did. Robert, as he looks out into the next decade, realizes that at some point he's going to need a new building. It's early stages but it's something that the league office can be helpful with. At least we have the experience of many more markets."

More Suns: Is Isaiah Thomas unhappy in Phoenix?

US Airways Center is the eighth oldest arena in the NBA. Among the older ones, Madison Square Garden has undergone a like-new renovation and there are plans in place for Golden State, Sacramento and Milwaukee to get new arenas.

US Airways Center opened in 1992 and underwent a $67 million renovation in 2003.

"He's very engaged," Silver said of Sarver. "It's early days in the process but it is something he's already beginning to think about."
Is the pancake roof arena still up? Veterans Memorial? Looks like it

Probably nothing to quibble over.

Might be setting the table for a legitimate acquisition. I've heard no rumblings as to whom. Maybe Lopez? Nets need draft picks, Suns have a few. Not sure I'd do that, though. Wouldn't mind them making a run at Green from Boston for Tucker/Ennis/1st. Not Sure Boston does that.

Garnett could make sense. Expiring contract, veteran, still decently productive, especially on the boards. Costs 12 million. Not sure who Suns give up. Doubt they want to give up core pieces.

Lopez seems unlikely. His salary is too high at nearly 16 per.

Maybe Thomas for Garnett? Suns net decent veteran big man, Thomas goes to team in need of starting PG, Nets get a good starting PG for very friendly price?

In their defense, Dragic and Thomas each missed games, and two of the losses were on miracle threes.

With health and a few bounces, this is a 48-52 win team. Without, it's .500

I think they are prime for a trade. Goodwin tearing it up in DLeague, several expiring contracts, Thomas, 6+ in CAP space, and draftees that can't even see the floor. They have assets to make a big acquisition, hopefully at C or a two-way SF.

Sarver's biggest mistake was hiring a man with far more clout and credit with the Suns fanbase as coach.

Wasn't Hornacek runner-up to Pops last season for COY?

I'll admit something here.

I was 9 when Hornacek was traded. I cried. I loved the KJ/Hornacek/Majerle/Chambers Suns.

I'd bet there's still enough folks like me where if a Suns owner ousted Hornacek again, he'd be run out of town. Maybe he takes the organization with it, which would suck, but I'd rather have no team than a hostage team, subject to all forms of idiocy with blame for all but himself.

Suns fans LOVE Hornacek. In a Suns' uniform, he was "Mr. Sunshine." As an All-Star, he was the only player to wear his warm-up suit instead of a formal suit to the ceremonies. Giving him up for Barkley was necessary but bitter pill. As a Sixer, he gave interviews talking about only wanting to return to Phoenix. And my word, those who saw him in his prime know what an amazing shooting guard he was.

I felt the same way about Kerr having to leave town in the Sarver regime. That's what severed Sarver for me.

This is where Sarver tends to show his real character. When somebody shows your valuable coach interest, you extend his contract. I don't see Sarver doing that.

I wouldn't care if Jeff took the Iowa State job because I don't think he is that great a coach. Let Hornacek leave sign Thibodeau.

Hornacek is actually a fantastic coach. He has not had very many breaks in his coaching career, from almost double digit buzzer losses, injury upon injury, redundant talent, bad attitudes amongst players, and "leaders" of the team getting in trouble with the law.

Yet he's over .500 in two seasons, and he's done a fantastic job in two specific areas: 1. Rotations (Point Guardians Of The Galaxy, aside) and youth development (almost every young player has improved significantly under him).

It's not just wins. I've seen incredible amounts of upside to Hornacek as coach. Unfortunately, Sarver is an idiot, and Hornacek is a lame duck coach, a problem I foresaw upon his signing. It was a joke to give just three years then, and even more so after a runner-up finish to Pops for coach of the year as a rookie amidst multiple high profile injuries.

Booker at 13 has a chance to be a top-5 player in the class. He's really good, still young, maybe growing, and he's quick and agile. If he can grow to 6-8 he's the perfect modern wing.

Basing a pick on a player freakishly growing doesn't sound great to me. At least he can spread the floor for a team that is going nowhere. Won't be able to do anything else at a high level.

Did you see his agility rank? He got lost in the UK machine. He's not a slasher, but he's 19 in October. He has lateral quickness, a high release, and quality range.

Don't underestimate his upside. Modern game favors shooting and quickness. He has both.

Young players grow all the time. Not basing my opinion on him, but his youth factors into upside.

If the Suns don't get good value for trading him, then what the hell seems to be the continued problem with that organization? If you're going to trade one, trade both before things turn worse and you lose your leverage. Anybody on this board knew that both twins are twits and that Markieff was going to demand a trade. It doesn't matter if you think he should understand the terms of his own contract and be a professional.
