are a garbage organization.

Traded Cousin's for next to nothing.

I am a basketball nomad since the implosion of the Suns about 10 years ago, root for the W's out of fandom to Kerr and the Cats Alum, but no vested interest outside of that. Now that I'm living in Sac, want to support the local team, new arena, community etc, but man this is a terribly run franchise.

I went in deep on this elsewhere, as the trade angered me and im not even a Kings fan. Ill just sum it up like this: Vlade and Vivek are the equivalent of eight year olds running a freaking professional sports franchise.

Dump Boogie for nothing, pay Barnes to go away, likely pay Galloway to go away, dealt away two #1s to sign Rondo for one year, AND they like Buddy Hield that much (never been a fan and will never be a fan).

People are going to say (and are, in fact, saying) the Kings got fleeced and that's fine.

A couple points:

1. Who is in the best position to know Cousin's true value (or lack of value)? The Kings.

2. The Kings looked at trades and perhaps this was the best they were offered.
a. Why might that be? Is Cousins one of those Marbury/Melo type talented players, but can't win with em?
b. If this was Cousin's trade value when he was making what, $24M a year, what would his trade value be next year when he's signed his 5 year, $209M contract (so about $42M a year)?

I get it that the guys running Sactown are idiots. And I hear the analysis that says Boogie brings $280M in value over five years going forward on projections, so he still might have value, even at a $209M contract. But if you know you want to get rid of him, if you know he's one of those "can't win with em" types, now is probably a better time to get rid of him than later.

It will be interesting to see what the Pelican's win percentage looks like with Boogie. We will see if it moves significantly...or not.

One addendum: If the Kings waive Galloway to dump his contract its going to cost them $5.4M extra NEXT year. So they would have thrown in Casspi for free to add money onto their cap sheet.

They had Cousins, Isiah Thomas, and Hassan Whiteside and now they have a bag of shit.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

They also just waived Matt Barnes to open up a roster spot to complete the deal. They literally could have waived anyone else, or pulled off another trade, or worked on a buy out with Barnes. Instead, they are paying him $6.4 million next year to vacate his roster spot this year.

Wow, TC, that is worse then I thought.

I mean they were only 1 game out of 8th place, and competing over the last month, this is just like blow it up and try to "sixer" it territory.

Except they would need a competent GM and their own first round draft picks.

I loved watching cousins play. A head case yes, but sheer dominance when he wanted to be on.

After 3 quarters, Houston 100 NO 67

Those are some ugly plus minuses

Modern NBA has so much offensive skill.

Two Towers is gonna be interesting.

Still think Cousins may be available this offseason.

Probably means Gentry will be fired, which sucks.

Kinda digging the D'Fox and Justin Jackson youth connection.

The kings will be terrible this year and still have terrible management/ownership, but maybe next season with some experience the youth will be ready to rumble.

Hield has been fun to watch as well. Nice comeback last night fell short against the suns.

I know one of the owners and they care more about the real estate play then winning basketball games

Crushed it from a real estate perspective

Yes, it is developing nicely around the arena and it has done wonders for downtown Sacramento. I live right near there and love it. They are having problems with their development of a hotel/condominiums where the contractor has a $30M lien.

The team is awful though. They are the darlings of the town because of no competition. No big collegiate or pro sports teams. They cant even lose correctly as evidence by them beating Orlando last week.

I am really fired up for this Walton hire!

Beyond the obvious homer interest I think this is a good fit for both parties.

Closer to mentorship with Kerr. Uptempo young players. Incredibly low expectations.

Given the keys to the franchise and get to mold to his liking.

Sacramento tends to treat CATS alum well. ;)

Last night's Kings game stopped for a while to clean up a fan vomiting on the court - a metaphor?

Kings 16 year playoff drought is over as of last night. Crushing the Blazers by 40. Next up is the NY Jets with a 12 year playoff drought.

Giving up all those offensive boards in the 3Q killed 'em.
