How is there not a Lakers thread

I mean we are talking about the greatest franchise in professional sports. Ok maybe Yankees have them beat but Lakers since 1980 are so legit

And look who is coming back under the Radar...trust the process

Can they make the playoffs?

Kobe is the man, wow, the guy is so impressive. That Ode to Basketball was awesome and glad he won.

Most impressive is winning the year of the MeToo movement.

Been on this for a year. The Clippers have been all over him, even before these developments. The original plan was to recruit him next summer. That said, Lakers could put together a quality package. This assuming RC and Pop would ever deal him to the Lakers.

Pop won’t do it but kawhi will force their hand

I got wrong information, Lebron did not tour the private school in Newport #fakenews

Which is why it was a tongue in cheek sarcastic comment. Lakers are a bad franchise currently though. Almost as bad as the Suns

Lakers are the greatest professional franchise in sports over the past 35 years

Paul George turned down an opportunity to be a god to lose consistently in the playoffs

Westbrook will never win a championship

Lakers will be fine

If George isn't going to Lakers
CP3 isn't going to Lakers
And Spurs refuse to let Leonard go to Lakers

Why would LeBron go Lakers... to play with the Ball Bros?!!!

if they don't get Kahwi...I won't get this. The lakers will go from being a 35-47 11th place team to a like 50 win 6th place team that may not make it to the conference finals. maybe Lebron is just putting in a first meaningless year and then they try to get some big names in 2019?

Easier to film Space Jam in LA. I doubt this move was about winning titles as much as the next 30 years. I think the problem with not getting Leonard is I think the Spurs know he probably doesnt mind sitting out next year, though Pop might make him sweat doing that anyways.

Need Boogie for a trio of head cases.

Luke probably wont coach past this year I bet. I doubt Lebron gives a damn about him.

I don't think LeBron gives a crap about the Lakers or even necessarily winning the title with them. This will most likely be his last contract and where he retires. It's a purely economic decision by him so he can start working on his post retirement empire. He wants to be more Magic and not Jordan in retirement. He's getting things set up for his future management/entertainment/advertising/retail company/empire and the playing basketball for the Lakers part is just a means to an end.

This.

Also why I think CR7 will consider a stint in LA or with Beckham in Miami when all’s said and done.

Good point. He's won his 3 titles and played for 6 more with 2 different teams. He's won MVPs. He really has nothing left to prove as a basketball player, aside from saying he is the best player ever vs a top 5 player ever. Laker fans...don't count on winning any titles with LeBron since his focus will be on non basketball business.

Really, Lebron doesnt care about winning...are your even serious??? Dumbest take ever

Lebron came to LA because he realizes a couple things

1. The Lakers are the most marquee franchise in professional sports for Basketball around the world
2. LA is a sh*t load a better place to live then Cleveland
3. When he brings a championship back to LA, he will be able to fully cement his legacy as the guy who took down the Warriors and took three teams to NBA Championships. He will not be able to pass Jordan at this stage but saying he brought trophies to three separate teams will cement his legacy.

Lebron is as committed as ever to taking down the Warriors. He is the epitome of a competitor and will lead LA to a championship because others like Kawhi will want to play around him for sure. He is still at the top of his game and guys like Lebron are all about legacy. His legacy taking the Lakers from despair to NBA champions will cement him in my opinion as one of the greatest ever if not the greatest

Laker Haters

It's not hating the Lakers, it's just explaining why he went to LA. Of course he wants to win, I never said he didn't. It's just not the main reason he went to LA. He went to LA to start his post basketball life.

Love ya Newport, but to date LeBron hasn’t been able to dismantle the warriors, actually the other way around.

Gonna be a fun arms race through.

And he’s not Jordan, but LeBron legacy is legit.

It's still because it's the Lakers. Otherwise the Knicks pr Clippers would have the pedigree instead of the Lakers. If the Lakers weren't the Lakers, he wouldn't come.

The galaxy are also the biggest team in MLS. But the Galaxy in soccer isn't in the same stratosphere as the Lakers in basketball

With Kawhi he will be able to dismantle it. LAbron's legacy needs more rings, needs to beat the Warriors and he will draw talent to LA.

The Warriors need to be destroyed and LAbron will get it done

Mark my words and never ever count out the Lakers. The franchise has so much brand equity

LBJ is 33.

I understand he is an athletic freak like most NBA and professional sports players, and had a fantastic year, but eventually age and physics will catch up with you.

Most NBA players are most productive at ages 26-29. Even Kobe who had an extreme daily physical regimen couldn't play at the same level after 34.

Even if Luke does turn into Phil Jackson and can handle the ego and control problems, not sure if the LBJ can wait for the Lakers to catch up.

However, I may watch them now and then. Haven't watched the Lakers since Luke was a rotation player.

Note that both Luke and LBJ were drafted in 2003.

LeBron already making moves:

WTF....
