2018 NBA draft

Post by Frybry02 »

I need help understanding why Trae Young is considered a top 10 pick. I just don’t see it.

He has a long ways to go, but the shot creation out of the PNR, the shooting, the vision.

I have him at the back of my top 10. Not the biggest fan, but can understand why people love him, because he fits into the league offensively due to his skill level.

His shooting numbers arent great. I definitely don’t think he is anywhere near 6’2. I think he gets absolutely bullied by NBA guards.

I see this as big too. He fits the Steph mold of a guy who can score from anywhere without great athleticism. I see him more as a poor man's Curry, but when you're comparing him to a MVP...

Imagine him with the NBA spacing... I prefer Sexton over him as a prospect, but Young is different, and his vision and passing surrounded by NBA athletes in wide open spacing situations is very intriguing... assuming you have an elite rim protector.

Only way I want the Suns to consider him is if they slip out of top-3 and select Bamba or Jackson, then trade up for Young. Otherwise, a Young/Booker backcourt is probably the most abused in the league.

1. Phoenix Suns
Deandre Ayton
Arizona
Age: 19.7
C

Height: 7-foot | Weight: 243

Ayton was beginning to answer some of the questions scouts have had about him since high school with a string of dominant performances down the stretch before he finished the season on a poor note in an early NCAA tournament exit. Physically, he's one of the most gifted prospects we've seen in the draft in the past few years, and he has impressive skill level to boot.

Phoenix, the worst defensive team in the NBA, will be right to question Ayton's impact on that end of the floor, but his sheer productivity and overall talent level make it difficult to not slot him at the top of this class.

Starting salary: $8,095,680

2. Luka Doncic
3. Jaren Jackson
4. Marvin Bagley
5. Mohamed Bamba
6. Wendell Carter
7. Trae Young
8. Michael Porter
9. Collin Sexton
10. Mikal Bridges

55. Rawle Alkins

The Suns are one of a handful of teams to ever finish last in offensive and defensive efficiency, plus net rating.

And the Suns get their first shot in the dick and lose a coin flip that costed them the Milwaukee Bucks 1st round pick. Looking forward to being given the #4 pick in the draft during the lottery.

They should have gotten the coin flip given to them to make up for losing the flip for Alcindor with the Bucks in 1970.

So UCLA had two draft picks and Arizona had one. I guess that discussion belongs in another forum.

Perhaps the dumbest take ever on this board, and that's saying something with some of your takes. Welcome to my foes list.

Perhaps one of the dumbest responses I've ever read on this board. I literally just stated a boring fact. No opinion involved there at all. No different than saying the sun rises in the east. So why the immature hissy fit?

Please provide the source for the Trier being a top 5 pick please. Since it is a simple fact as you say it should be difficult to provide

Trier wasn’t even a top-5 prospect in his class.

Every year the top-5 is 7-footers (not Trier), hyper athletes (not Trier), PGs who can score (not Trier) or super-sized Swiss Army Knife types (not Trier).

Harden may literally be the only example of an undersized SG who isn’t a hyper athlete going top-5, but he was a bit of the Swiss army and enough of a bruiser that it made sense.

I’m not sure there’s even been a time when Trier was a guaranteed 1st-rounder. To me, at his peak upside, he was always 25-45 range. Just not enough of a facilitator to justify anything more.

To be fair, Trier always thought of himself as a top 5 pick.
