As long as he hires a good DC like, Bowles, Pagano, Joseph, Williams or Bettcher this will be good for the defense and offense for the Cardinals. Upgrade on both sides of the ball.

And it keeps a hell of a OC away from USC, which helps assu and U of A big time in the attempt to win the South

Kingsbury is on that Lane Kiffin path to success. Always fall up.

Sources tell FootballScoop GM Steve Keim researched a number of college coaches over the past month including Kingsbury, Dana Holgorsen and others, believing the offensive innovation in the college game is the future of the league.

Why would anyone think that?

There is a reason QBs who are not that bright can make it in college, but not the pros. The NFL offensive schemes just seem so much more complicated with superior athletes in every position on defense.

Look at the Kansas City, Rams, Bears, Eagles, Saints, Ravens and Panthers offenses

He's getting hired since he was the coach for Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes.

Who are both nothing like Rosen.

I just don't get the fascination with Kingsbury being a Pro coach - college I get - but nothing on his resume jumps out that he's ready to lead a NFL team.

Jets fans went nuts when they heard he was interviewed and they also have a young, up and coming QB.

I like the hire. He excelled where he is strong, offense, leading his barely top-50 recruiting classes to regular top-20 offensive rankings, and, often top-10ish. That means he coaches up, adapts, runs unique and unpredictable sets, etc.

He also worked well with QBs.

Granted, Baker didn’t end up great, but we’ve seen he has some attitude about him.

Wins/Losses are often a byproduct of talent, and middle of the pack recruiting classes tend to equate to middle of the pack records. He’s at the 4th worst major Texas school location. Maybe 5th if you like Houston for its major city pull, maybe 6th if you are wacko for Waco.

If he brings in a veteran Defensive Coordinator, allows him to basically run the defense, and hires a strong OLine coach, he will be set up for success assuming growth.

Cardinals D has a strong backfield, and a star rusher up front. Keim needs to lean on his D-Coordinator or hire a draft guru to oversee the early rounds so we have impact.

But Defense has major upside, and Kliff is the type of mind that can develop or manufacture upside on offense.

Kind of amazing that you can slap some modeling clay on the bottom of your feet and convince a team to not only take you #1 but to also jettison the top 3 QB they took just last year because *poof!* you’re suddenly 5’ 10.25”.

Anyone taking bets on whether Kyler lets the team measure him for the official team height & weight listings?
