Politics aside, I think he knows he's a shitty Qb and is trying to get himself a wrongful termination suit/discrimination suit lined up, for when they eventually can or bench his poor decision making, noodle arm throwing ass.

with that said, it's his right to sit down during the national anthem.

That's the beauty of being in the land of the free.

We can burn our own flags too.

Just a stupid athlete, esp. his political takes.

Good for him for standing up (heheheh) for what he believes in, but I wish this had come from a player with a more visible social standing and less gang members as friends.

I see it the same way. Manipulative and being really obvious and egotistical about it.

It would be funny if Obama released a statement defending Kaepernick's right but also saying to the effect of, "We don't dishonor our national anthem drawing attention to ourselves."

Otherwise known as niners fans? (I had season tickets for a few seasons and the element is strong in that fan base)b

The only time I care if a person sits or stands is well documented in the Sitters vs Standers thread.

Just as likely this as anything else. Some permutations on this: he realizes he might not be the starter in the upcoming season so he's trying to get benched for something off the field before it happens for things on the field. That might help him when the team cuts him down the road.

But yeah I'd guess (and obviously it's a guess, I don't know the guy) it's just as likely if not more likely to be some sort of getting cut so he can sign for another big bonus somewhere else as it is some heartfelt belief that he has that he's just now choosing to stand up for.

Boomer Esiason says

In Esiason's opinion, the risk of keeping Kaepernick far outweighs the reward.

"I'd cut him," Esiason said.

Might be time to move this to the political forum??

I’m going to buy some gear and then protest the shit out of something* while wearing it.

*Hopefully it’s not the unfair working conditions child laborers toil in to produce his stuff. That kind of shit ends up screwing with my mind way too much.

Yep, that's me.

Like the evil computer in the Star Trek episode that they got to malfunction by giving it a logic riddle. I am that evil computer.

For us non-NFL watchers, for many of us, any team that signs Kaepernick would get millions of new fans, willing to buy his jerseys.

Although I kind of wish it wasn't the Raiders. There is an image where I live for those who wear Raiders gear and I don't fit it. Don't think I have seen an old white dude in cargo shorts and white socks wearing a Raiders jersey in decades if ever. Now the Rams...

5 years off would make a comeback nearly impossible I would have to think, but good on Davis for giving him a shot.
