Chicago Bears

Post by PieceOfMeat »

Anyone else not surprised by their loss?

I had someone chirping in my ear at half time about how surely the bears would win. I told them just to wait, and watch them lose.

I went to sleep just having read a hundred tweets about how the Bears are Super Bowl bound.

Woke up to a thousand tweets calling the Bears the biggest choke artists since Mama Cass.

Good times...

I didn't watch the game(celebrating Rosh Hashana) but checked the score on my phone and saw we were up like 20 points going into the 4th quarter. I couldn't believe it. I then checked about 10 minutes later and saw we were only up by 3 with about 5 minutes to go... I never even thought about turning on the TV, I knew what was going to happen!

It's a funny thing when of all of my sports teams that I root for, it's the Cubs who are the only serious threat to make any positive noise.

Way to lose again Bears.

Interceptions.

Pourous D to start the game, and throughout the game.

Giving up a kickoff return for touchdown AND a blocked punt return for a touchdown.

a hail mary that doesnt even reach the endzone?

classic.

3-3, bring on the mediocrity.

Did a damn fine job last night. Really needed it too with Trubisky throwing 3 picks.

If the D can play at that level in the playoffs....well I'm a Bears fan so I won't let myself get carried away just yet lol.

Pretty impressive play, watch the right tackle.

From Deadspin:

You probably don’t need to look too hard at that formation to realize that there are exactly zero skill players on the field. No running backs, no tight ends, no wide receivers. The play featured five offensive linemen, Sowell lined up as a tight end, and three defensive linemen. Jonathan Bullard, Akiem Hicks, and Bilal Nichols lined up in the backfield behind Sowell, and Roy Robertson-Harris lined up as a tight end on the other side of the formation.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen 10 linemen out there for the offense on any one play, ever, until that one.

Big man had good hands too

Prior to the season, I never thought that heading into the last game of the year the Bears would be in position to get a #2 seed in the playoffs (yes I know, would also need help via a rams loss).

Although there were a lot of mistakes today that damn well could have cost the game today, they still managed to eek out the win against the horrible 49ers. Phew.

Happily surprised :)

I don't know what to say about the refs and that blown call late in the 1st half.

So bizarre that nobody on either team even bothered to move towards the ball and pick it up, usually someone on D does that.

Also, I could have sworn I've seen fumbles without recovery just given back to the offense before at the spot of the fumble. Am I imagining that?

So fucking bizarre

Yeah...this is what I thought the rule was too:
Oh nevermind, they explained on the broadcast that there actually is a rule for it regarding replay and shit. no clear recovery means you cant rule it a catch. odd.

These comments made me turn the game on, and have to ask, don't the Eagles blitz? The Bear QB had all kinds of time to throw.

Reminds me of the end of the Arizona/ASU game. Prevent defense only prevents victory.

announcers said earlier that eagles have only blitzed on 18% (or something like that) of their defensive plays this year.

apparently its just not something they do much of
