To a certain extent I have to give Dawkins' lawyer a hand because they picked Schlabach for a reason. He's a nobody football reporter right? A guy who makes bowl predictions?

I personally smelled the dead rat immediately following his interview after the Ball State/Central Michigan game. (Don't judge me  ) Then immediately afterwards they had bitter beerface (Jeff Goodman) talking about how everyone else was just small time meal infractions. Of course smelling the dead rat and finding it are two different things.

If this cannot be unraveled/ESPN goes mute, what do we do?

Can we place Miller on paid administrative leave, give Romar the program and tell recruits "either a cleared Sean Miller or LoRo will be your head coach, most likely Romar" and at least get some players who want to play for Romar but would be cool if Sean Miller returned?

Would Romar be cool with that? We only need to make it to the fall/late fall/winter to know definitively.

Down side is we are committing, ala Bozo, to Romar. But WTF? We need to fill like 7 slots.

Can we take time to remember that on a national broadcast on ESPNU the commentators reported breaking news that Miller had been fired, and then pulled an "oh sorry" later.

I am still amazed by this.

We should come up with an ayra stark hit list of peoples pelts (careers) that I want Arizona and Miller to own once this shitshow is over.

I’ll start

Schlabach
Bilias

Hansen
Columbo

Yep.

This needs to be viewed as an ESPN issue, rather than a random dipshit journalist or two.

You are 100 percent correct about this. Been an issue ever since the Pac was the only Power 5 conference to not be a competitive contract negotiator with Bristol in the mid-90s. Possibly before.

As an I Odogg.

After a weekend of processing. I am more pissed now then when the story broke because it is becoming increasingly clear that Arizona and Miller we done severely and terribly wrong. Especially when the ESPN talking heads decided to pile on.

The joe peschi corn field scene in casino would be too kind for schlabach and the rest at ESPN.m

Edit: yes spiff, ESPN tried to bury Arizona’s corpse, the more this is talked about the more we win over joe fan (which needs to happen given the hit Miller took) and have Miller coaching Arizona on the way to this years national chipper.
We need to start pounding the pavement as they say. We need hastags and some sort of consistent message to inundate the socials and other media with. We can meme Miller back onto the sidelines, we have accomplished much more difficult tasks with memes.
Quite a few of us are. #ESPNTimeline or #AytonTimeline or #freemiller seem reasonable.

These are good, although I was thinking more along the lines of #ESPNisISIS

So basically all of ESPN college basketball employees. Said it before, I'll say it again: fuck Hansen. Walton was surprisingly bearable during the game and thought he would come much harder.

What even makes me more sick is seeing Bilas and Jay Will with the holier-than-thou routine. If you say you're shocked by this, you're either a liar or an idiot. They know damn well the business of college basketball.

It's been almost two decades since I was a regular on a UA forum but like most here, this story has grabbed my heart and mind and I can't shake loose of it.

I've never been much of a Sean Miller fan. I've always been bothered by his sideline comportment. And while I consider him an above average coach, I still don't think he really knows how to maximize the talent available to him nor has he adjusted well to the changing game. That said, even with the "possible" mishandling of the Pitts situation, I've never once doubted the man's integrity and it will take a lot more than a shaky ESPN report to change that.

I don't believe there's some grand conspiracy to bring Sean or UA down but nothing about the way ESPN handled this during the first 24 hours makes sense to me.

You only have to listen to him on the early Roadtrippin' podcasts about that topic..."I was hungry...(Walton laugh)...but I was NEVER hungry."

Which, without context, seems clear, but in context of the conversation is very clear.

Welcome back? AFO, GOAzcats...2 decades makes me think the former...

Too bad it took this. I think there are a lot of alums among those of us who are a bit older and have done this for a while/been with the program for years who have a similar view. I have always felt Sean would get better...he is relatively young. And, honestly, I thought the job he did this year, down an assistant, FBI noise, a weird mix of veterans and freshmen, was one of his best. The team kept getting better, month by month. From November to December to January to February, with occasional step backs. The bench was starting to contribute more. There were more combinations available. Some subtle changes to how we defended certain action...our ability to shred a 2-3 zone finally.

I don't mind his sideline demeanor that much. Don't mouth off to him. And don't be clearly wrong...otherwise, he is pretty calm compared to many. The Pitts deal? I don't know what he could have done, but agree it was a mess.

I think, if this is wrong, it is because a story was placed in the lap of a reporter hungry for a new, protected, lead position, and the editorial staff at ESPN were feeling the pressure to have a win vs Yahoo.com's reporting, and it got rushed and possibly is partially or wholly wrong. And our fans are going nuts, and rightfully so, because it is the program at stake, and if it isn't ironclad, it might be wrong. Good journalism should hold up to fans trying to poke holes...

But we just won't know unless a miracle happens.

So extend the suspension for now? Through the end of the season? Just let Romar finish the season, and then make harder decisions?

I want to keep my mind open to the possibility that Miller is caught on an FBI wiretap on Dawkins from 2016 discussing $100,000 and Deandre Ayton.

In an effort to do so, can anybody here find anybody on the World Wide Web explaining how that would be possible in spite of the logistical and chronological incoherence of an FBI wiretap on Dawkins in 2016?

And add the fact that every one on this board arguably had more pull with Deandre Ayton than Christian Dawkins did.

The thing is, if Miller was tipped off about Book doing his own thing on the side, chances are the FBI wasn't around to get anything on Miller until Dawkins started to communicate with Book. Since this timeline seems so jacked, when was it that Book made contact with Dawkins? That's probably the point in time the FBI started sniffing around Arizona....then found only enough evidence to get Book, and Miller has nothing solid against him.

We have to do something soon to field a team. But maybe the Romar as acting (like Bozo)/Miller leave of absence Lute route is the way to go. Get some players willing to play for Romar AND Miller. They are going to be lower end 3* hoping for full vindication and a chance to star at a name. If you are that lucky. But we have to field a team.

Think back to 2013 and the Pac 12 tournament. Think about your reaction to refs targeting Miller with a Cancun vacation as bounty. At the time, I thought there was no way that could happen. And then the truth came out. And our foul mouthed awesome as hell coach was vindicated. And since then, our program has been dynamic under Miller, with soon to be 4 regular season titles. Whatever Miller has or hasn't done, I can live with if the truth comes out. But I am totally in his corner. And if he's guilty, I'll part ways with forgiveness in my heart. But I still think we win this thing.

You can wait until the season is over. This isn't too much or too difficult. Fielding a team next year is a problem already and doing something now vs. in a month isn't going to change a damn thing.

Okay, not a suspension. You know what I meant. He's already missed a game. Is he kept from missing more? How many? It's really a de-facto suspension, but call it what you like.

Okay, not a suspension. You know what I meant. He's already missed a game. Is he kept from missing more? How many? It's really a de-facto suspension, but call it what you like.

Like 97 said, you roll him out to the intro of "Bring em out".

The only reason this doesn't happen is if the school knows something we don't.
