I also had WSU in every bracket, probably the easiest 2nd round pick out of the bunch...it was an insta-pick.
This happened in Washington. UW back to scheduling Gonzaga.

Maybe they'll print the #1 RPI shirts this time around.

I agree it was the easiest second round pick. It was the upset pick I had the most confidence in too (any round), Michigan State over Virginia being a close second.

There is a serious discipline issue at Kansas.

Stop me if you've heard this one before:

In 2010, Kansas was set to play Northern Iowa in the second round. The day before the game, "a few Jayhawks started chirping at the Panthers before warmups. 'Then we didn’t care anymore. Once somebody starts talking to you, that’s when they’re on the same level as you.'"

Kansas lost that game 69-67.

The next year, Kansas started fights with not one but two double-digit seed teams on their way to the Elite Eight. First, they picked a fight with 12-seed Richmond. The next game, they started talking trash to 11-seed VCU: "When players from both teams shook hands before the game that broke the bracket once and for all, Kansas big man Marcus Morris went to the intimidation playbook once too often. 'You guys have had a good run,' he told Virginia Commonwealth guards Joey Rodriguez and Brandon Rozzell. 'But now it's over.'"

Kansas lost that game 71-61.

Last year, against Stanford, Andrew Wiggins and Wayne Selden were asked about Chasson Randle. They laughed.

Stanford won that game 60-57. Randle had 13 points. Wiggins and Selden had 6 combined.

This year, Kelly Oubre was asked if he had watched Wichita St. He explained that he was napping during that game.

Fred VanVleet's response to that quote after the game was over?

"He can sleep all he wants now."

Plenty of teams talk a lot of trash. That's less the issue; most of KU's underachieving falls on Self's inept motivational skills.

anyway. i didn't realize bill self had issues curbing his kids -- that chasson randle presser is pretty messed up. isnt self known for having a pretty hands-off coaching/managerial style, from recruiting to day-to-day practices? reminds me a little of howland and ucla.

I remembered all of these incidents as I re-read them. That said, seeing them posted together should be a title of a thread at phog. Seriously - it's kinda crazy to think about this in a cluster.

Which goes more-so to enfuego's post about the last 12 years or so. Very much at the top end of the scale with any other team in the country in regards to the good results.

But the bad ones? Holy Wow are they way worse than any other "blue blood". WAY. WORSE.

Marshall's wife made a comment about her having more definition in her arms than the Kansas players.

I'm guessing this victory has resulted in a lot of pent up anger about being the ignored little brother being let out to the media.

Me.

I had Wichita State beating New Mexico State in the Round of 32. Apparently I had forgotten Marvin Menzies was still the NMSU coach.

I think Kansas fans who defend Self should have to leave with him.

Not fair that those asshats will get to be happy when KU administration finally figures out how much Self sucks compared to his resources and the next coach comes in and leverages the Kansas name to a proper level of postseason success...

Ultimately, I have no issue with Kansas. At all. Just Self. That goes back to Illinois in the 2001 Elite Eight and assholes like Lucas Johnson.

It's possible either they misspoke or you misheard, but the Jayhawks have indeed lost 3 in a row vs. MVC teams in the tournament...just not in 3 consecutive years. WSU this year, Northern Iowa in 2010, Bradley in '06.

Kansas is still in this, and their fans are sweating it out. They have to hope that North Carolina doesn't beat Wisconsin, because a possible match-up with Arizona would allow the Tar Heels to pass Kansas in the KenPom SOS.
