Should have lost in regulation but Oregon forgot to foul the ball handler when up by 3 and seconds left in the game.

Is this for real?

Where is the UofA visitors section in the upper deck?
Thanks for the heads up. Guess assu is removing the wall for one game. How pathetic.

I like how they say "probably not" to tournament bound. The only Asu basketball has to strive for in its existence is to hope to beat us at home.

James Harden getting number retired this weekend. Saw a piece on it on local Phoenix news. One of Harden's "accomplishments" that they list is that he was 5-0 against the U of A. They of course make no mention of what was happening to U of A during that stretch.

I fucking hate ASU.

Ian Beck should find a new profession. May I suggest cleaning up roadkill on highways or fishing valuables out of waste treatment plant pools? Based on that laughably poor attempt at an Op-Ed, I just don't think writing or thinking is his thing.

In case anyone doesn't want to give that joker a click, here's a synopsis...

"Sure Arizona has all of those banners and a tradition of success and multiple players in the NBA and the respect of college basketball fans nationwide . . . but ASU has the Curtain of Distraction and a few people on Twitter were happy that their one solid NBA player was going to be in town. So it's pretty much even, right?"

I noticed though that in all of Ian's slobbering over the ASU fanbase he failed to mention the biggest indicator of fan passion . . . attendance. Probably because it wouldn't look so great for his beloved Sun Gerbils.

It great just because of this final quote "So sure, Arizona has the wins and the much better team but don’t condemn ASU’s basketball program just based on the numbers."

ASU has its rival confused...

Average attendance:

UofA:14,245 (includes the exhibition game)
ASU: 6,083 (5,740 without the AZ game)
GCU: 5,305
NAU: 1,083

GCU will dominate the valley once they are eligible for the tournament. They already have similar numbers to a PAC12 school. GCU had its lowest attendance of 3714 against UC Riverside which is similar to ASU's low of 3,842 against Bethune-Cookman...No wonder Tempe was pushing to hold them back....ASU is 14-12 this season and GCU is 15-11....

As soon as gcu breaks through to their first tournament, they will be the basketball school of valley and within 10 years a more stable program than asu

This. ASU needs to stop concerning itself with Arizona and the pro sports crowds and figure out how it's going to stay respectably above the level of Grand Canyon, which is being savvy and aggressive in moving its basketball program up the ladder fast.

So ASU somehow finishes as high as 5th to conclude the Pac 12 season?!?!? Did not even realize that was a possibility going into this weekend. Surprised.

Now, to revisit Herb's low contract standards, he can say "look, I lost a boatload of experience from last year, fielded plenty of unknowns, and STILL finished in the top half of the conference!" 9-9!

And he's only 3 wins from getting to that 20 win milestone which yields an automatic extension, right? Beat lowly ASU (edit: meant SC) in Vegas this Wednesday and win a combination of two more in either the conference tourney or the NIT!

I'd say he might get that extension. Beat Arizona st home, near 20 wins and a top 5 conference finis h means a lifetime contract.

I saw a guy at a restaurant this morning in Casa Grande with a Herb Sendek t-shirt on.

Guess he does have his fans.

20 wins is quite doable, especially if they decide to pay to play in the CBI or the CIT.

Good season for ASU. They definitely finished better than expected. 3 players have already transferred for next year so they will be scrambling again to be relevant next year though.

There are those Herbivore shirts, but they're becoming more and more scarce from what I've seen of their crowd shots (the crowd is getting scarce too, now that I think about it).

I think they should just give the doofus a lifetime contract and get it over with. Nothing exemplifies their school motto of "We Strive for Occasional Mediocrity" like Herb Sendek.

I missed by a Game.....
1:06 PM

I predicted us to finish 10 - 8 on the season in conference mainly because the PAC IMO was so down this year which is proving correct considering Lunardi only has 3 teams from the PAC going to the dance..........

AND ................ I will give Herb credit. Finishing 9 - 9, after the way we started and losing to LeHigh early at home, was quite the accomplishment. I predict we beat SC on the tourney, beat UCLA and then anything can happen vs UA but unfortunately think the pussycats will "ref" their way to a win.

"Im going to be optimistic and based on how the PAC is down this year, I will say we go 10-8 in conferance play (yes, some will call me eek1 ) ... UA and Utah are the only teams that I think are a lock for the tourney. MAYBE CU, but they lost Dinwiddle obviously.

CAL is the dark horse team to watch in my humble opinion. New coach in Martin from Tenn, and three VERY good guards."

Herb did a great job with bullshit and they won their super bowl. Outside of getting very lucky and landing some young upstart, that program isnt going to do much better.
