Not wearing a helmet?

One of my racquetball buddies, a marathoner and all around superb athlete died when he fell off his bicycle and hit his head on a curb. No helmet.

Yah pretty sad. Always hard to look back at what could have been done different to avoid this.

Does anyone know where he was rated in the system or if he had committed to a school yet? I assume he is a senior to be and could sign in November.
