I don't mind Houston winning because they have better odds of taking down Duke.

I wouldn't mind this game going to another OT because the last game of the night is already over.

Annual one game a year - NAU one year, GCU the next.
Or home and home - NAU one year, GCU the next?
Or "Great Desert University Challenge" - Arizona, NAU, GCU, ASU (early season non-conference)

ABOR already forces us and ASU to play NAU, so an all 4 AZ university challenge actually sounds like a way to make it fun.

This. GCU is a for profit Christian school that offers nothing to the UA. Beating them is like a 6th grader beating up a kindergartener, and losing to them would be a disaster.

I know what they are. If they are your definition of a kindergartner you haven't seen them play much or seen their fans. Losing to them would not be a disaster since they are a worthy tournament team. Certainly losing to them would be no worse the Oregon State.

WOW not sure kids can understand or read these days eh? Their fans are crazy and they play really hard and get a lot of players from the portal. Not to mention their coach hit one of the most famous NCAA tournament shots. We are Arizona and playing good teams should be our model going forward. Our recruiting backyard is anywhere in the country.

Big whoop.

I could give two shits about what their fans want. Too much downside risk to Arizona to prop them up. Let them build on their own.

In short, much like ASU, Fuck GCU.

GCU

Post by TheCatInTheHat »

I think, as a fan, it's perfectly fine to appreciate the genuine excitement of GCU fans having a chance to get out on the big stage. My experiences with their alumni and campus personnel is that they're generally pretty nice people. That said, we're certainly under no obligation to give them a helping hand, and any efforts on their behalf somehow trying to force the issue of some on-going tournament format at the Suns arena with ASU/NAU on a twin bill or something like that should be rejected. Doesn't benefit us, and there is some potential downside, although we're certainly not recruiting the same players. I guess I might play them at McKale (as we've done in the past), but I wouldn't play them at their place or anywhere else in Phoenix any more than I'd play at NAU.

There is absolutely no reason to play GCU anywhere but our own court. There are only 31 game’s available and the MTE we play in are a much higher profile and resume builder then having a two game set with the other three in state schools. I think someone from Duke put a curse on the North Carolina team, and included Caleb Love in that.

Still can't take that win in Cameron away from us though!
