Was 2017 all that long ago?

Guess he is getting homesick. He was the starter at VT, but he and the second string QB left the team before their bowl game. Things must really be shitty at VT.

He pulled himself out of the NFL draft?

Seems like he has been playing college football forever. He was a JUCO transfer who took a super Sr year I thought

Looks like Regen Terry decided to follow his Pops to BC. Really thought Terry would be a big contributor here, but it just never worked out.

Sure hope USC and Oklahoma meet in a bowl game next year.

I feel the sane way though about Jay Johnson so I get it

While he's probably not wrong, he literally used the portal to rape his old team of talent

What happens to the kids in the portal after the every team's spots are filled? They essentially dropped out of school/gave up their scholies?

Yep, career more than likely done. Once they hit the portal their former school is under no obligation to bring them back or honor their scholarship.

All of our guys that have hit the portal, I think only one is with a P5 school and most don’t even have a place to play. Tells you a lot about our former roster

Has anybody heard of a school not accepting a player back from the portal?

I think a lot of them don’t come back. Look at our guys. If they don’t find a home they are fine as we are already at the 85 limit.

Last year we recruited a bunch of them back out of necessity. This year the roster is being purged.

With over 1000 kids in the portal and most rosters pretty full, many will see their athletic career end I assume

They’ll find a home. Just may need to take a step down in class. Unless a kid has disciplinary or injury issues I can’t imagine a smaller school saying no thanks to a kid who was recruited and got a scholarship to a P5 school.

Seems most of those entering the transfer portal from the UA are FCS quality players if they can't get into the rotation on a 1-11 UA team.

No need to enter the portal, unless they were encouraged like Lute used to do. But then again, if you don't enter the portal teams cannot contact you, you can only contact them as a player.

It's worse right now because of the extra Covid year every player was granted I would imagine.

I really thought schools in the FCS would feast on the portal. My guess is they don’t have many open scholarships as it is costly to those schools and those kids I doubt transfer.

The portal has changed HS recruiting for sure. Kids need to lock in early to secure a spot

We did lose to NAU so I'm not sure this is true for everyone. They're not exactly a powerhouse FCS football program

But they’d take one of our players in a heartbeat.

Saw Grant Gunnell is the backup qb for North Texas. I wonder how he would of done if he had stayed at the UofA?

Sure can't blame him. From one of the featured backs to 0 carries, and didn't even get in when Speedy went down.

5 star QB Huard transferring to Cal Poly. Merkin should love this. Maybe we should get Cal Poly into the PAC

Poly has better academics than SDSU!

But a terrible stadium and a god awful football program.

The stadium was right outside my office window. No doubt I would have run into him several times. If I was a working man. But then again, my whole department is now working from home 100% of the time.

One thing about working close to the stadium and football offices was that walking around them, the football players all seemed a head shorter than the football players you would see around the UA.

Little SLO-Tucson connection: I think most of us old timers remember The Wildcat House on Stone. It was actually a chain of two, the other one (called The Grad) was in San Luis Obispo. It lasted longer than The Wildcat House, but closed a few years back. Just like The Wildcat House, The Grad was away from the campus core.

The Grad:

I spent one weekend in Obispo, I was drunk for 95% of it. I would welcome them into the PAC with open arms lol.

Unless he goes FCS or is a grad transfer then he will have to sit out a year. You only get one exception in not sitting out once you transfer using the portal.
