Yeah, this not the year to talk. The Pac's bowl season isn't as bad as the record looks, but the record looks really bad.

Sam Darnold and SC crapping the bed against Ohio State.

I am beginning to wonder if Rosen/Darnold are really as talented as the scouts think or was it just a case of two better than average QB's running up gaudy numbers against a bunch of mediocre PAC12 opponents with really bad defenses.

Hard not to agree with this. Conference looking terribly weak this year. In most cases the bowl games have been Bad losses!!!

I'm no Alabama fan but I gotta admit, as a lifelong Bears fan, I loved seeing their big fat Defensive Lineman catch a TD pass... a la William "The Refrigerator" Perry.

That UGA/OU game was on par with the best of the playoff/BCS games of all time. Maybe not USC/UT just because it was only a semifinal, but easily in the OU/Boise, probably even FSU/Auburn level games.

A couple of interesting tidbits on tonight's game:

1) Saban is 11-0 vs ex assistant coaches.

2) Georgia beat Alabama in men's basketball. This is the 4th time in the BCS/CFP era where the eventual CFP Championship Game participants met in basketball prior to the title game. Each of the previous 3 times, the winner of the basketball game also won the football game.

That missed facemask call against Alabama was insanely bad. Really I have no idea how that was missed with about 11 minutes left in the third quarter.

If they lose anyway, half of the white males in Alabama will be getting their guns ready to kill.

Unreal

Would be frustrating to be a fan of football in the state of Georgia the last 12 months. Blowing a lead and losing in OT in the super bowl and the college football championship game.

I don't know about that but would be nice. I watched maybe 5 minutes of the "playoffs" this year. Same ol same ol.

I don't remember Bama ever being bad. Hated them back in the Bear Bryant days. In 25 seasons Bear never had a losing season and in 13 seasons had 10 or more wins. That with only 11 regular season games and very few bowl games.

Ray Perkins era was pretty shoddy by Tide standards. Just still incredible, in retrospect, that Mike Price was HC there for a month.

Alabama is always going to be a football juggernaut because, without going too into depth about it on this forum, football trumps Christianity as religion in the state.

Nick Saban would thrash both Roy Moore and Doug Jones. In any election. The cult of personality has replaced our democratic process.

Sadly, that kind of cult is pretty much what it takes to be that good in football for so long. Look at Pennsylvania, where Joe Paterno might as well have been governor.

I'd rather never have Arizona in a Rose Bowl if it means surrendering to that kind of sociology.

Between 1995-2007, Alabama had 8 seasons with 3-7 wins. Outside of a couple years they were irrelevant on the national and even sec stage. They can be there again.
