If you take that job and don’t win a Natty by Year 3, you’re a failure. Just making it to a 12-team playoff won’t cut the spicy mustard in Tuscaloosa.
Yep if they go 35-5 their first 3 years with a conference title and 2 playoff appearances but no title, they might be fired.

If they do he'll probably grab Brennan.

Guys he has done an incredible job here especially with the alums and fans but he is now a .500 coach and not many programs AD's are going to take that risk. If he wins the conference next year all bets are off but I think it is a little early for established programs to take that risk. Ask Michigan about Rich Rod or aTm.

Looks like whoever UDub hires will be able to bring their current team with them.

Jedd is being mentioned at UDub...

https://theathletic.com/5199329/2024/01 ... old-fisch/
Washington candidates to replace Kalen DeBoer: Ryan Grubb, Lance Leipold, Jedd Fisch and more

If Dannen does have an open search, I expect he will give strong consideration to Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch, who is the one guy in the Pac-12 who might’ve done as good a job as DeBoer has in revitalizing a dismal situation. Fisch took over a program riding a 12-game losing streak when he arrived in Tucson in 2021. This past season, he led Arizona to a 10-3 record and No. 11 ranking — the school’s best finish in 25 years. He’s hit all the right notes from the moment he showed up there. Fisch would make a lot of sense for the Huskies on a bunch of levels. He proved in Tucson to be a shrewd talent evaluator and offensive mind. He’s worked in Seattle from his time on Pete Carroll’s Seahawks staff, and he has also worked in the Big Ten on Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan staff. Arizona wants to do a new contract with Fisch, according to people familiar with talks there, but nothing has been finalized or finished on that front.

If Fisch bails to UDub, Brennan should get on the horn to dad even if Brennan goes with Jedd.

Pete could probably keep a lot of UA players just based his reputation.

Fisch isn't going anywhere. People (especially on Twitter) need to stop freaking out.

I think Fisch is waiting for an NFL GM to come calling. Which might happen soon if the Eagles complete their late season collapse with a loss on Monday night against the Bucs. Fisch and Eagles GM Howie Roseman were frat brothers and roommates during their college days at Florida. So the connection is there. And there's lots of talk swirling around the Eagles now about how the current coach (Sirianni) has lost the locker room. Would Fisch be at the top of the Roseman's list if they fire Siranni? Doubtful. But if they make it past the first few names on their list, I think this scenario becomes a real possibility. Y'all better be rooting hard for the Eagles to win a playoff game or two.

I don’t at all believe Fisch and the NFL is realistic. Not because of Fisch but because, after all the flops from college, the NFL largely views the college-to-pro coaching pipeline as broken.

Terrible experiences like Rhule w/ the Panthers, Urban Meyer w/ the Jaguars, Kiffin w/ the Raiders, Petrino w/ the Falcons, Chip Kelly w/ the Eagles/49ers, Schiano w/ the Buccaneers, Doug Marrone w/ the Bills, and my personal favorite Kliff Kingsbury w/ the Arizona Cardinals. All wishful hires, flaming out quickly, and leaving the joint a bigger mess than before.

The exceptions, such as Pete Carrol and Jim Harbaugh, had lengthy histories with the NFL before going from college BACK to the NFL.

Don't think any one of them have gone back to college voluntarily have they? Harbaugh will be back in the NFL in minutes.

Just to state the obvious, no recruiting, and no NCAA rules to deal with.

Lute Olson said the only thing he doesn't miss about college basketball is the recruiting.

Although not all roses in the pros. Like NBA and NCAA HOFer Larry Brown said, the biggest difference between college and the pros is that college kids still listen to you. Brown said he could never get a NBAer to put any effort into a full court press.

Fisch has spent twice as much time in the NFL as college.

Dunno if any of you watch that Mike Luke PHNX sports postgame show but Scheer said Fisch interviewed with Washington today. Hopefully nothing more than just kicking the tires or trying to get ABOR to hurry up and approve his extension.

Not sure what the “denied the position” exactly means. Why go visit just to tell them no thanks. Not only that but we had a 7 on 7 camp and a bunch of recruits on campus. Seems odd to fly up there just to say no
