CFP 2023-2024

Game 1:

Nobody is giving Michigan a chance which I love. This Alabama team is good but not unbeatable. Can’t let Milroe run around and make plays but this Michigan defense had no weaknesses.

On offense, Michigan has to be able to run the ball because that’s what they do. If they have at least some success on the ground that will allow McCarthy to play action with Roman Wilson and their elite tight end Lovelace.

Going to be a heck of a game.

Go Blue!

Michigan showing once again, that in sports the only thing wrong with cheating is....well nothing. They can join the Astros, Patriot's and others who have cheated and been rewarded for doing so.

I would respond but first you need to get your head out of the sand. If you don’t think everyone at that level is trying to get an advantage you are living in some kind of altruistic dream world.

I predicted that as soon as the matchup was announced.

Nobody there except local MAGA evangelicals. I suspect the TV numbers weren't very good either.

Ducks underperformed. They needed 3 more touchdowns to match my predicted score of 66-6.

Uw coach tried to get fancy in 3q then tried to run clock when they needed a first down.

The play I don't get is with about 2:30 left, and up by 6, UW has a 3rd and goal from the 8. They call a pass play, incomplete, and stops the clock. I'm no fan of conservative play calling 99% of the time, but this is the 1% of the time I run the ball and force Texas to burn another TO. The FG was a chip shot gimme, and going up by 9 with 2:25 on the clock with your opponent with 1 TO is better than going up by 9, same time, with your opponent with 1 TO.

In the end, it didn't matter, but if Texas had only 1 TO, UW probably could have run out the clock in victory formation after recovering the onside kick. Instead, with 2 TOs, UW had to run 3 plays, with the third ending in an injury that stopped the clock and gave Texas time for a miracle comeback that fell just short.

"altruistic dream world"

In Michigan's post game presser Harbaugh started whining about what an "unfair disadvantage" it was for his team to "go through what the program had to go through" this past season.

Then, after their loss, Alabama's official NIL Collective immediately releases an urgent call to "take action" and support their NIL:

Lol, a program with as much success as Alabama whining about needing to do even better in recruiting? That's rich. At least one thing PAC 12 fans will always have over SEC fans, life is bigger than football. I'm glad Alabama put that into clear perspective with that tweet.

Stay classy UW.

And if you ask Texans they don't consider themselves as part of the South. They are Texas.

Well they shouldn’t have joined the SEC if they don’t want to be considered part of the South.

It was a good day for cfb.

Grew up in Michigan, so always been a Blue fan. Fuck Woody Hayes still. Outside of ASU, I always root for PAC teams playing non-conference games.

I haven't followed the CFP ever due to the Bama and the SEC dominating. I have hated Alabama since the Bear Bryant days, and all the special treatment the SEC received then. Just hate Southern football, and like CopaCat said above, PAC fans have a life outside of football.

The demise of Bay Area college football can probably be tied to them having a lot more interesting things to do. Even further south SDSU isn't pulling them being the only game in town.

My mother told me Woody Hayes wanted to date her and she turned him down. I am thankful. This was long before he was a head coach.

I’ve already stated my new found UofM fandom due to my daughter being a sophomore and on the Dance Team (she would have been in Pasadena yesterday but they only brought Juniors and Seniors ☹️).

Watching that game was like watching a big Arizona game. Same emotions but maybe worse as you don’t want your kid to feel that same ache after a loss.

Have to say that Harbaugh outcoached Saban especially in the 4th quarter/OT. That doesn’t happen very often. But Michigan better clean up those mistakes otherwise UDub can very easily beat them.

Damn.

Have you invented some kind of mind reading machine that can get that detailed of a thought pattern out of my head from half way around the planet?

There is not one word of that that I haven't been thinking. Well except I was born in Michigan but didn't grow up there.
