So as bad as Pujols has been, it’s pretty fucked up to DFA a hall-of-famer.

I realize last season robbed them of the farewell tour but you’re telling me St. Louis couldn’t have given them some international cash or a player to be named later so he could retire with dignity?

Detroit isn't just in last place in their division.

They are in last place in all of baseball.

I know somebody has to be last, but why does it always have to be Detroit?

It was bad all the way around but it was the 1B fault. There were 2 outs. All he had to do is let Baez run towards home and just touch first base for the force out. It didn't matter if the runner scored. That was the most bone-headed play I've ever seen in baseball. Baez egged the fielder to follow him.

It reminds me of a Little League play. He must have forgot there were two outs.

That's why some teams like the Pirates are perennial last place clubs.

Ahhh the gold old days. Do players, outside of NL pitchers, even bunt any more? Not even sure about NL pitchers.

Interesting but the premise a catcher has never had an unassisted caught stealing might be off as I am sure there has been a few times where a runner was out trying to steal home.

Maybe not on the base path. Lol.

I changed my mind on the designated hitter in the NL. The reason is how pitchers are used now. The game has changed. Starters are now mostly throwing two turns through the lineup. Relief pitching is much more important now and teams have quality relievers. It is rare to have complete games anymore.

The Yankees knocked Show-Hey out in the first inning, which is interesting because they also got rid of the Angels’ best hitter in the process.

And then give up 7 in the ninth to lose to the Angels. A game they had in the bag.

Boone has to be fired.

Ohtani singlehandedly won the game for the Angels last night. He is must watch right now.

If the Angels had a little better starting pitching and a healthy Trout can you imagine how dangerous they would be?

So I’ve been thinking about this, and holy shit do I think Screamin’ Ass Smith is wrong here.

In my opinion, MLB has a number of “faces of the game”. Ohtani is certainly one of them and that is a truly great thing. Others are Trout, Acuña Jr., Vladdy Jr., Tatis Jr., and maybe Betts and Judge.

The issue isn’t what languages these guys speak. In fact, it’s a plus with how much growth is possible in Latin America and Asia to have Hispanic and Asian players amongst the best.

The issue is that most of these guys are on small market teams, or in the case of the Angels, a large market team that acts like a small market team and refuses to surround their stars with guys who will get them to the playoffs.

Ohtani is fucking GREAT for the game. It’s MLB’s job to market him and to drag the Angels kicking and screaming into acting like they play in the second biggest market in the league.

Guess Stephen A. Smith didn't think his "marketability" comments might be seen with a different lens. Too bad, I used to enjoy his take on hoops.

They got beat by the Tigers who scored 17 runs … without a homer.

Most of the Angels chatter was between the Padres close to trading and the Dodgers finalizing a deal. But I doubt Max would ever approve a trade to Anaheim

I can’t believe that two thirds of the way through the season the San Francisco Giants have the best record in all of baseball by 4 games. Never in a million years would I have predicted that.

Highest ticket prices ever for a regular season game and only Iowans were allowed into the ticket lottery. Average ticket price is almost $1500 a seat
