22nd no no by the Dodgers, more than any other team.

Funny thing is they only have 1 perfect game...by Koufax back in '65.

In terms of game score, yes. Only Wood's 20k game had a higher score. But, Wood's game wasn't a no-no.

Hey Bug... you don't actually think Kershaw is a better player than Mike Trout, right? I mean, surely you're just trying to get people riled up.

Hard for me to think any 5th day player is better then an everyday guy but if there is one, Kershaw would be that guy. He takes the hill and you just figure the Dodgers win that one.

Trout is amazing to me. I can't think of another guy (maybe Bo jackson) where the ball comes off his bat like lightning. He is very exciting.

I think Bug's theory is an interesting one. Everyday player that can win you a game everyday or a guy that gets you one a week? No doubt Kershaw is more dominate at his positions right now.

I've met Clayton Kershaw, and I think he is an incredible pitcher. And I was a tall lanky LHP, too, so I like him for that also. But what Felix Hernandez is doing this year is arguably more impressive than even what Clayton is doing, considering he is playing in the American League with a DH and he's doing it right-handed. It is really remarkable. Even if you think Clayton is having a better season, it is VERY debatable.

On the other hand, Mike Trout has been so much better than every other outfielder, it is pretty much a joke. His WAR is 30 percent greater than any other center fielder. The difference between him and the next-closest (McCutchen) is the same as the difference between McCutchen and Billy Hamilton. It is completely nuts how dominant Mike Trout is. So far in his career, there has never been a player like him in my lifetime and it's not even particularly close.

I understand why people side with hitters over pitchers. But teams will generally take the best pitcher over the best hitter, at least at #1 over the past decade and a half or so.

And Kershaw only pitches once every five games. That much is true but say he goes 6 innings, that is a minimum of 18 batters he faces in those games. Say Trout is up four times a game on average. Over 5 games, that's 20 AB's. That's mostly a BS argument, but the everyday vs every 5th day is a mostly BS argument anyways.

Now take Trout as a hitter. He can win you a game at any moment. That's assuming he's not pitched around, which happens and will continue to happen. He can do damage on the bases just as well, but he can be negated. How do you negate going up against a pitcher? Last years opening day game vs the hated ones ended in a 1-0 Dodger win. Kershaw not only pitched a complete game shutout but hit a HR as the games lone run. Pitchers can affect games in that way. Hitters cannot.

Will Trout end up better than Kershaw? His current trajectory is probably such but performance and past performance dictates otherwise.

Here is a pretty good article on Kershaw. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2118 ... anded-aces

No GM in the world would trade Trout for Kershaw. Trout is the best offensive player in baseball while also playing good enough defense at a premium position. He's a once-in-a-generation player while Kershaw is somewhere between the best and the third-best pitcher in the league. This debate is not even close.

For a starting pitcher to have as much value as Trout is providing, he would need to throw something like 250 innings with an ERA of 1.00 this year.

As an Angels fan, you should be happy to have Trout on your team. I wouldn't expect you to feel any other way.

? Who said I'm an Angels fan?

You're admitting that you are not able to evaluate your own players objectively, but that doesn't mean everyone else has that problem.

Cool.

Most Angel fans feel passionately about the debate to actively seek arguments about it. If you aren't an Angel fan, ok then.

Assuming he finishes the year off strong, Clayton Kershaw should be the NL MVP. The position player candidates are weak with Tulo and Cutch missing a lot of games and Stanton not being on a very good team.

Well, they have the bubbles so I guess that will do. The good thing is the playoff rotation can now be set where Kershaw can start game 1.

Two years in a row Kershaw loses the final playoff game of the year. I wonder if Mattingly's job is in trouble.
