This might be my favorite Yankee team since 1995.

On to Houston.

The Cubs definitely didn't win the game, Washington lost it. Although a couple game performances from Contreras and the pick-off at first. And the 7 out performance of Wade Davis. I am beginning to believe the Nationals are more cursed than the Cubs.

I still don't like the way Maddon uses his players during the playoffs. Just a lot of head scratchers. I don't believe the Cubs will win a game against the Dodgers. They are beat and, this year, the Dodgers are a lot better, especially in the bullpen. Still...It is nice to be in the NLCS for the third year in a row. I'm starting to get used to the Cubs in the postseason.

Maddon should be fired for how poor of a decision maker he is in the playoffs. Just because it works does not mean it is correct.

Contreras saved the day for sure.

Cubs win at least two games. Dodgers are good but they are not that good. The Diamondbacks just were not ready yet and the pitching was so bad in the playoffs.

I am not saying the Diamondbacks win in 2018 but I think 2017 was what 2015 was to the Cubs. Not as great as the Cubs beating the Cardinals but that post season experience was needed.

Totally. As a Cubs fan I'd like Madden a lot more had he been making the correct call and losing playoff series than making all of these incorrect calls and winning them

If the Cubs pull off two games, they are probably taking the National League pennant. Their pitching is pretty wrecked right now and if they can't jump all over the Cubs, they are probably going to get swept.

Roberts with the quick hook on Kershaw after 5. They said he has 12 postseason HR's allowed in 60 innings. He had 12 all year this year and that number is high (I think?). The weaker lineup paid off as the bottom of the lineup came through.

Game 2 essentially a must win for the Astros with Verlander on the hill. He dominated LA during the regular season with Detroit. I kinda wish the Dodgers would go with Darvish in Game 2. I want to see LA get into the Houston bullpen. But Verlander is the type of pitcher who can go deep into a game despite giving up a few runs. Who starts in LF for the Dodgers? Ether?

Ethier probably does unless They want Joc in center and Taylor in Left. They want Hill in game 2 because he pitches much better in Dodger stadium and he's had a better season.

Yup. Bellinger's warning shot clears if it weren't for the marine layer. Worked out the win vs Verlander and going to the pen too early ended up being the undoing

i actually dont agree with this at all, the ball was jumping like a bouncy-ball out of the park last night due to the hot weather.

even Springer's inside out swing that caught the barrel rocketed out to right center...Bellinger just caught it slightly off the barrel.

eight home runs total and five from the 9th on (when traditionally the weather cools and the marine layer is more of a factor) shows to me that it wasnt a factor last night.

either way, pulling Hill after 4 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, and 7 K's was an absolute mistake.

Jansen has never recorded a 6 out save and Roberts puts him in that spot to record his first ever in the World Series -- if he lets Hill go at least another inning his pen is set up much better and Jansen can be in a more familiar spot.

not to mention, Jansen is forced to sit the middle and bottom of the eighth and come back out for the ninth and and it gave the Astros more looks at a guy who traditionally doesnt get or have a book on him.

lots of interesting developments last night in an amazing game but so much of that blame goes to Roberts, cause if the plan doesnt go exactly to order, youre stuck with Fields and McCarthy behind Jansen in the 10th/11th and we all saw what happened there.

on to Houston.

A high school buddy of mine that I went with to Games 1&2 in 2001 with called at 9P Friday night and wanted to go to Game 4. 5A I was up and headed to the airport. Turned a 25 minute walk back to our hotel into an hour and 20 at 3A in downtown Houston. Somehow didn't get robbed/shot  Wish we would have gone to Game 5 but still had a blast.

If the Dodgers face Gurriel next year, he's getting thrown at. You can't put baserunners on this game though and Darvish won't be the guy throwing at him, for reasons 97 said

Leaving the bases loaded in the 1st with no runs is not a good omen though.

Other than last night this whole series has been nothing but large swings both ways. If I were Houston I wouldn't feel comfortable yet.
