Huge sweep of the Red Sox (who they made up 11.5 games on in under 6 weeks) to move into first place in the Wildcard race.

Goddamn this team for making me love them again…

Didn’t you want to fire people a few weeks back?

Ahh to be a fan with a short and selective memory…

No need for memory, it’s all in black & white right here.

And if they don’t reach the World Series because they couldn’t catch the Rays, I’m still in favor of firing Boone or Cashman… or both. It will be because of how shitty the first half was due to a right-handed heavy lineup full of rally killers, a volatile bullpen, and their inability to stop giving each other Covid. That shit should get you fired.

You expect anything different? 😡 I would have kept him if not for the Rizzo acquisition.

I have won 5 match-ups in a row btw so can’t complain too much.

10 wins in a row.

17-3 in their last 20.

22-5 in their last 27.

32-11 in their last 43.

They were 41-40 halfway through the season.

They’re now tied with the Houston Trashbangers for the second best record in the AL.

The Yankees have taught me how to love again.

For now…

Not me brother.

First 11 game winning streak in 36 years.

Won ten series in a row for the first time since the 1954 Yankees.

Chapman nearly blew it with his turtleneck and long sleeves on a 95 degree Atlanta summer night where he was sweating so much it was pouring off the brim of his hat like it was raining…

But the Yankees keep winning.

On to Oakland…

Yankees won 13 of 15 and still lost a full game in the AL East standings because Baltimore sucks a syphilitic donkey dick.

I fully expect the O’s to play like it’s the goddamn playoffs against the Yanks. None of this rolling over and playing dead like against the Rays.

Interesting conspiracy theory. :P

Can I use that for every team that plays the Giants this year? "Hey, the Dodgers won so we will figure out a way for you to beat us. Let's make it a pinch hit home run in the late innings to really make it look good."

Teams definitely get up to play the Yankees and Dodgers in a way they don’t for teams like the Rays, Giants, and Padres.

Obviously that’s a biased, subjective observation but . . . prove me wrong.

I think I saw there have been only 3 teams in MLB history with a worse losing streak after winning 13+ games in a row.

Way to follow up a 13 game win streak by losing 9 out of 11! Losing 5 in a row at home to the Orioles and Blue Jays should be grounds for Boone to get the boot.

Instead of New York and Boston, Toronto and Seattle could be wild cards. Both are hot and knocking on the door.

It’s a nine game season and they are 1-0.

Anything less than 6-3 and their chances get mighty iffy.

Seeing a lot of this kind of stuff on my timeline this morning.
He obviously made a lot of friends in the media. Because the question isn’t how many regular season wins he accumulates it’s how he positions the team during the regular season for success in the postseason, and then what that team does during the postseason.

One more win means not going to Boston.
Beating the Orioles means contending with the Rays for the division title.

Boone wasted full years from Judge & Stanton in 2021 with questionable at best in-game and pitching staff management. That alone should be a fireable offense.

Isn't Bobby Cox the manager that won 14 straight division titles with Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux and only one WS?

Maybe that's what Boone is aspiring to be, a great regular season manager.

It’s not “nothing else” but when it’s been over a decade since the last WS appearance and they just had a season where their top two hitters played almost the whole year and absolutely raked, and where their #1 starter is top-2 for AL Cy Young consideration, yeah… Boone should have been able to take this team further than bowing out the first day as the second Wild Card.

This team needs someone who will kick them in the ass when they aren’t playing up to their potential (and contracts) and not a guy who is going to put a happy face on being 23rd(!) in team hitting. Too many guys came to the ballpark knowing everything was going to be ok no matter if they took a few at bats, or even the whole game, off. That shit is utterly unacceptable and yet under Boone it’s been 4 straight years of stomaching mediocrity.
