All winter all you've heard is "RE-SIGN DJLM YOU COWARDS!!!"

Then when a deal was reported as imminent, it was "Thank god. But you better not have gone to 5 years. 4 years is fine. 5 years is a tragedy in the making."

Apparently the Yankees are trading Adam Ottavino to the Red Sox. I'm kind of shocked they would send a proven RP to a team in their division. They must think his crappy year last year was a harbinger of things to come.

And it's just a salary dump/roster move. They sent Ottavino, a minor league pitcher, & $850K to convince Boston to take on his salary and to get him off the 40 man roster. So I guess that means they can get Brett Gardner back? I'm really confused here. It doesn't look like they're going to re-sign Tanaka or Paxton, and I doubt they would trade one $9M RP just to sign another.

I don't get it.

Agreed. He was hurting the team both at the plate and in the field, and they were either too respectful or desperate for a warm body to say anything.

Unfortunately what’s going to happen now is that DJ LeMaheiu will move over to 1st base and Rougned Odor will become the every day 2nd basemen, which isn’t an improvement at the plate or in the field.

What the Yankees SHOULD do, is trade Luke Voit for Trevor Story, move Gleyber Torres to 2nd, and become the World Series contender they are supposed to be.

Ehhhh, it’s a long season and it’s still just April.

But it’s obvious that Cashman did nothing to shore up the weak spots on this team (situational hitting & defense) and made the starting rotation worse by relying on three guys who hadn’t pitched in a year or more.

Right now they are just a tough team to watch. I tuned in yesterday to see Hicks boot two balls in the outfield and then strike out horribly with a runner on second and less than two outs and turned the game off not long after that. My time is too valuable to watch guys being paid a quarter billion dollars play like a local beer league rec team.

But you are 100% correct. I was surprised Cashman was so quiet during the off-season. Shit, even the WS champion Dodgers took some improvement actions with the signing of Bauer.

DJLM, Gio and Judge are the only ones who can hit right now. If things don't get figured out soon Aaron Boone will be back in the booth in no time.

Maybe DJLM as he is hitting .295.
But Judge and Gio are batting .255 and .268 with a lot of K’s. Not really lighting it up.
