In robotics, there's something called The Uncanny Valley, which is where things are close enough to what you expect that you're somewhat sucked into the fantasy, but they're just off enough that the whole thing leaves you feeling uneasy and a little creeped out. Most wax museums and the Abraham Lincoln and Johnny Depp animatronics at Disneyland are good examples. Harry Caray now joins that pantheon. BTW, when I lived outside Chicago a zillion years ago, Harry was doing White Sox games on a low-power snowy UHF TV station. For a day game, 15K would be a good crowd. He'd go out to center field, where they had a crappy plywood table and old microphone for him. He'd carry a briefcase out there, whip off his shirt (yikes), open the briefcase, and throw cans of cold Bud out to the bleacher creatures, who went absolutely crazy. Lotta fun.

Haha. The Padres made a big move to get Soto and Bell at the end of the trading deadline and were pretty excited about making a strong postseason run.

Tatis Jr. just popped their balloon.

This contract could do some serious damage to all young players looking to get paid a lot more during their arbitration years. First he is injured in the offseason in a motorcycle accident and now he is suspended into next year for doping. It is not very often you have teammates disparaging a teammate who is the face of the franchise like you do with the Padres teammates as well as their manager.

I don't include Bonds and Rodriguez. The only reason they are on that list is because of PEDS.

Same with Sosa and McGuire for the season records.

Lol. Nicely played.

Anyone have an opinion about Buck checking Musgrove for illegal substances at the start of the bottom of the 6th? I had flashbacks to '88 where Davey Johnson got Jay Howell suspended for pine tar on his glove.

Astros just scored the first run of the game in the top of the 18th inning.

Let's play 2 (in 1)!

Seattle was my favorite this playoff season. That is a team that has had some of the greatest players in the game and never made it to the World Series.

Who was that? Celebrating a quarterfinal was it?

Shit, you still have to win 8 (or 7 if the semi's are best of 5) games before you can celebrate big time like that. Sure - go ahead and be happy, but pretending you are done just doesn't cut it.

In my opinion, that is cheap ass kids stuff - not chilling at all.
