Things I learned from this game:

We're good
I know how to just bypass ESPN completely now to stream ESPN games for the future

I thought this was going to be a tough game. Let's get some rest and a good team meal before Sunday.

We will not win many games giving up 21 Offensive rebounds. That number shocks me.

We had 17 TOs too. By all rights we should have lost but our on-ball defense was spectacular.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

So did I. I took one for the team so everyone else would benefit. It's just how I roll.

Strange game statistically. We gave up 20 OR, but held Stanford to 30% shooting. Usually extra possessions will kill you, but our D was locked in for just about all 40 minutes. We gave up very few uncontested shots and had 8 blocks. Stanford had only 21 made buckets all game.

We also put on another clinic on offense. 20 assists on 31 made buckets, and man of the unassisted buckets were easy lay-ups on drives set up because our ball movement was spectacular. The 17 turnovers are a little high, but we got a little sloppy with a big lead late in the game. It happens.

Hopefully AT is ok. High ankle sprains can be annoying because they can take time to fully heal. And if you are not 100%, you can re-injure yourself. I don't think we need AT at CAL, so I'd sit him out for that one, and then evaluate before the UCLA game.

I know a lot of you are stats freaks but one could argue, and I will quote Aristotle that "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts".

This team is uber-talented, athletic and unselfish on both ends of the court and when we can impose our will it's doesn't matter if there are any stat aberrations such as TO's, offensive rebounds, etc...

The only thing that worries me is injuries and foul trouble.

It almost seems like the team just knows they are much better than everyone else and pre-game they just decide to leave out part of their game to make it a little more interesting.

"Hey guys- let's see how much we can win by if we just turn the ball over like crazy"

"Hey tonight... nobody hit a 3"

"I bet we can still win by 20+ if we don't rebound"

"We're nice guys, like our coach, remember? Let's give our opponent one stat box to feel good about and then mercilessly crush their spirit every where else. Oh, and slap 'em on the butt and smile."

ROFL There is so much truth in this. Imagine if the team got it all together. You get a feeling this team isn't even close to its potential yet. Imagine if we have a full healthy team with experience. We are legitimately 8 deep. 9 deep if Aiken returns. There isn't much falloff when relying on the bench. Any one of those players could start for other PAC-12 teams.

The Cats can be relentless on both sides of the court, and that makes mistakes less important. That is where our greatest strength lies. This team has a potential to be the best Cats team of all time. They are not there yet. Too many mental mistakes by young players. Still, they are one of the most fun teams to watch.

Scheer said it was a high ankle sprain, but have not seen any confirmation either.

I had a high ankle sprain 25 years ago playing basketball, and it never healed up right.

Not a doctor, but he was putting pressure on his ankle, which I could not do.

These 9pm games are bullshit. I’m just fucking off all day at work today. I’m blaming it on the late game, but I probably would have anyway.

He still needs to get his body and mind in sync.
The ability is there. It’s just going to take another season to put it all together.

By all the tweets posted here this last off season, it seemed like he did spend a lot of time in gym.
Terry is much more athletic. He gets beat a lot, but recovers really quickly.
Yeah, I’m talking more development than physical traits or what they specifically do on the court.

I agree. He’s the type of guy that would benefit from staying for 4 years like Solo. I doubt we get him for more than 3, but his offense still has a long way to go if he wants to stick in the league. He’s never going to be more than a 5-8ppg guy off the bench in the nba but he has to be somewhat of a threat to score and hit open 3s if he wants to stick in the league.
