UCLA passed up some open shots, trying to kill the clock, but I agree, too much time left to try and do that.

I think this 7 man rotation has finally caught up with this team. UCLA is so deep they can just go all out on every play

That wasn't a kicked ball???
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Its certainly not doing Ballo any favors in his present condition.

The problem is that the drop off is pretty steep with Veesar/Bal

I think that Lloyd HAS to go 9 deep in the P12 tourney with the potential for 3 games in 3 days

Ok ok… Ramey is having a shitty game but is having an amazing year….
I know, he’s been terrible tonight and a little too hot and cold for a senior.

We needed Boswell to teach Bal how to play stellar D and get some minutes in the 2nd half of the pac season

Disappointed that he isn’t savvy enough to manufacture points at the line by drawing fouls. Reminds me of Mark Lyons

Also, if they rematch with UCLA next week, Kerr needs to shoot the fucking ball. He’s trying to do too much against a very good defensive team. Take the open shot.

I love the overrated chant when UCLA is ranked higher than us.
“The reality is that the hardest games to win are over teams on their home court. Teams that don’t play those games can spin it however they want, but what they’re saying is, ‘We don’t want to lose in our non conference season.’" - Sean Miller

Looking forward to the P12 tourney I am perfectly happy with our seeding.

I would rather play SC again than Oregon. If the good Oregon shows up UCLA may be in trouble in the Semi-Finals.

Lloyd needs to go 9 deep from game 1.

Ramey/Henderson were MIA tonight. They need to show up in Vegas.

Boswell needs more playing time.

We have to figure out a way to rest up Ballo and get him well.

If they play SC, they have to near Utah or Stanford first.

We will see if Remy can have a bounce back game. Not sure what they were doing defensively but he really struggled. ZU was ready to play but they could get him the ball much till late in the second half. Got another week before we potentially play these guys again.

Losing sucks!!!

Very good win for the uclans! They deserve the credit!

But their fans rushing the court??? Says something about the accomplishment!

FWIW, I hope we play them twice more this year!!!

BTFD!!!!

One bad trend in recent games is getting outscored in the 2nd half. Maybe it's the 7-man rotation and we're getting tired late? Maybe we need to give Vessaar and Bal some 1st half minutes to steal some minutes our top 7 can play harder in the 2nd half? Whatever the answer, the trend is disturbing.

Disagree, Merk. I don’t think this game has much bearing on what AZ can do in the tourney. We’ve done well on neutral courts, and even in one of our weaker performances the last few weeks, I saw a lot tonight to feel good about.

Yep. As I've said, the disturbing trend that occurs year after year after year. Fizzling in the late season is so predictably annoying with this program. We got worked by an excellent team that is most certainly a NC contender tonight. You could see how much more UCLA has improved and how much we've regressed. As UCLA probably gets to their fifth Final Four since 2006 we'll have gone over two decades without one. This team is not getting out of the first weekend and I'm honestly expecting a first game exit. I couldn't care less about the Pac 12 tournament but we'll get bounced early in that too. This team just doesn't have the right personnel for any kind of post season run. It is what it is. Congrats to UCLA and their fans.

Merk it was a tough lost and UCLA deserved to win. That being said we had a higher fg %, a higher 3pt % but lost the rebounding and turnover battle and were out scored at the line by 10 (UCLA was 20/22). Hopefully we can hold on to the ball better and get Ballo back rebounding like he did earlier.

Guys have bad games and Remy had one tonight. Hopefully he will bounce back but you could tell he was uncomfortable early. Maybe it was the defense or nerves but I trust he will be better if we play these guys again.

Still #1 at Torvik since Jan 15 even with the loss.

Doesn't make me feel better tonight, but, there was fight in those guys especially Boz at the end of the game, just had too much ground to make up on a night that they played really well.

Pretty embarrassing for 3 of the starters to have a combined 12 points. Wonder if the 7 man rotation is hurting them now.

And a Gumby sighting in the comments.

We needed Ced and Ramey to come through yesterday. Didn't happen. Compare that to Singleton on ucla, who was almost non-existent in the first game and had 17 yesterday. Can't win on the road against a good team unless you bring your A game.

I'm gonna regard yesterday's performances from Ramey and Ced as aberrations. More often they've been solid this year, and given that they're both seniors, I'm sure they'll be focused and excited to play in the big dance.

I said before yesterday that this final reg season game had little bearing on what's about to begin. Still feel that way. ucla lost a starter for the rest of the year. We didn't. I'd rather be us than them right now.
