Anyone ever been?

Going for this week. Want to focus on learning about Emirati culture and how it transitioned from sleepy arab trading post to international business hub in 40 years. Staying in Deira and I have heard that its a crazy good foodie city.

Any must do's? I know about the Burj Kalifa, the Palm, and the Burq Arab, but if I had to I'd pass on those if there is something else worth doing (such the Dubai Museum and an Emirati dinner in Old Town that I found).

Totally going to hit up the Gold Souk and haggle for an anniversary gift.

And eat Kabobs in the working class district of Deira where all the Iraqi and Kurdish restaurants are.
