Organ Pipe

Thinking about a spring camping trip to Organ Pipe NM. Although I've driven through there several times, I've never camped there. Hoping the spring wildflowers are going off.

Tentative plan is to take the truck camper and bring the SXS on a trailer. I guess we'll camp in the Twin Peaks campground.

I'd love suggestions. My knee is tweaked so much strenuous hiking may not work. So far it looks like just cruising the trails/roads and doing a bit of birding. BBqing and having a few grogskis in the setting sunlight is a definite.

You could check out El Camino del Diablo. You need a permit, but it's not too hard to obtain - https://www.desertusa.com/desert-trails/diablo.html - https://bmgr.recaccess.com/

I have no intimate knowledge of the area but the bloom should be great. Poppies are already out in GV; ocotillo are flushing; rosemary in full bloom; aloe building; Gila Monsters should out and looking to hook up. Great time to go!

Thanks. I've been out on the Camino from the west side a few times but never all the way across it. Bucket list

Great article BTW.
