Irvin went to a DII school his freshman year and dominated, transferred to a JUCO and once again dominated, now he's getting his shot at D1. Dude was also the final pick in the MLB draft this year. Flannagan is a redshirt sophomore.

Hate to be Zach Sherman as he gave up 5 in the ninth. Based upon what Yesky has said about competing in each appearance or someone else will take your spot Zach better come up big next time and close strong

Have to wonder if Q will end up being the Friday night guy or if they really like the lefty JUCO kid that started the opener more

3-2 Arizona in the 6th. Wheels coming off here in the 6th inning for Arizona. Batters aren't being their typical selves and we've had numerous chances at double plays and keep failing.

In interesting to see a low scoring Sunday game. Figure the bats and the defense comes around so the pitching effort is encouraging. Of course it’s not PAC level opponents at this point

Well didn't end up that low scoring, we won 11-3. Our infielders were pretty bad this game though, so that's gotta improve.

We got an 11am game against Minnesota in Phoenix today. True freshman Dawson Netz getting the start on the bump.

6 innings in and our bats have not shown up at all. 3-0 Minnesota.

Wow that’s a quick turn around game against a quality opponent. I wonder if Minnesota played three over the weekend. Still 3-0 in the 6th

Yep they played 3 games in Tempe prior to this one. Oregon, Pepperdine, and San Diego in that order. They lost to Pepperdine and San Diego.

6-5 us now in the 5th. The new lefty started and is still pitching but to me he does not look like a Friday night guy but Yesky must like him because he has total control of the pitchers

Cats go down 2-0 in the second as Flanagan gives up a 2 run HR to Iowa. Dyer hitting .190 so far this year in the 3 hole of course Wells and Holgate are well over .500 still but we seem to be struggling still

Give up another 2 spot in the third. Can’t get the middle of the order out. 4-0 Iowa

Seems like we lose every non conference game against the Big 10 in the last couple of years. It has cost us at the end of the season as far as RPI goes and thus lose out on post season play.

We beat a very weak Nebraska team 3-2. Only 6 hits today. Right now we have to many holes in the line up it seems. 6-32 today after only 4 hits yesterday.

Good news is we have 91 strike outs as a staff and Vince Vanelle looks like he may be a decent closer. Another freshman started yoday and went 5.1 innings, only giving up a run

Good hitters are just not hitting for some reason. If there's one thing I trust Jay in doing though it's getting his hitters to hit, so give that a bit and I'm sure it'll be remedied. Just happy the pitching looks to be better.

I've been checking out the other Pac-12 scores and as a league the Pac-12 is not doing well, too many games lost to teams that have no business beating a Pac-12 school. This part of the year is critical, because once you start playing league games, you just start beating each other up, and the league itself makes no ground. From what I'm seeing right now, the Pac-12 might get just 3 teams in the tournament, maybe 4 if we're lucky.

As far as the Cats go, I knew the pitching would be better with Yeskie, but I was afraid for the offense that we lost too much talent from last year's team, and that looks to be the case against quality teams. Sure, they pounded Albany, but who cares. Against comparable D-1 schools I'm afraid it's not looking too good. JJ may have to crank up the small ball...

Cats get the win tonight 5-1. Vince Vanelle with an impressive outing from the pen. Came in with no outs and runners on first and third and didn’t give up a run

15-11 loss giving up 6 in the top of the 9th to snatch a win. Gave up 26 guns to RI in two games. Now the schedule steps up with games against ASSU, Texas and Houston I think

Strange game. We lead 8-2 into the 7th but we give up 4 runs but still lead 8-6. We have 8 runs on 3 hits with our 3 and 4 hitters having 7 RBI

Cats lead 4-1 in the 5th. Dyer looks like he is breaking out of his slump as he goes yard. The new lefty, Garrett Irvin is on the mound. Looks like he is our Friday night guy. Team ERA is almost 2 runs less than last year

7-1 headed to the 9th. Have 7 runs on 7 hits so whoever said to crank up the small ball was right. We still lead the conference in runs scored which is surprising

Going to be interesting how this shakes out for Arizona. Austin Wells is going in the 1st round as a draft eligible sophomore. Arizona has 3 HS guys who could be drafted in Chase Davis, Daniel Susac, and Nick Yorke. Davis would for sure sign with a pro team. Will be curious if Matt Dyer or Donta Williams goes in these 5 rounds.

As I understand it the signing bonus money will be significantly lower and some of it deferred. Also wonder if you are not drafted if you simply can sign a free agent contract like with football?. Have also heard with this smaller draft teams might have fewer farm clubs

How does a sophomore become draft eligible? Thought you had to stay 3 years minimum if you go to college.

If you're old enough you can be drafted. He's old enough.

Yes, teams can sign as many FAs as they want after the draft.
