Escape with only 1 on the board. Pitch count pretty high though, and Miami's pitcher has kept his count very low considering the long first inning.

100 pitches through 6, still looking good. With a 4 run lead, I think he goes out for at least another inning.

Good night for Bannister. If needed, he could probably come back for a loser bracket game on the 22nd. 117 pitches I think. Hope we throw Dalbec in game 2.

Yep but Bannister's gotten a bunch of them tonight. I think tonight is a great example of throwing strikes early gets you more borderline strikes than if you struggle to locate early.

Right. Bannister's control really helped him tonight. I'm cool with a big strike zone as long as it's consistent, and it was.

I don't think the game on Monday will be any harder than playing #3 Miami. The Cats will still be the big underdog. The Cats should not even have made it to the super-regional, so the games are all on house money. Just play loose and let the chips fall where they may. And more importantly have fun.

Cameron Ming is the most valuable player of this run that few are talking about...

He just deals. lots of 3 strike ABs. Too advantage of an ump all in black, especially in on the left box. It is consistent all night.

We are looming great. We need to respect our runs more, though...let's end this being thrown out by 6 steps on the bases. Never make the 1st or 3rd out at 3rd base, especially when you were slow out of the box on a survival swing that stayed fair. That was 6-1. That could matter.

Was good to see us back to small ball, but I truly think we can rake with any team here...HiC just dictates how we play.

Recent postseason pitching rotation certainly suggests otherwise. It definitely seems like Bannister and Dalbec are 1 and 2 right now (refer to Mississippi State series) with Ginkel likely leading the way for #3.

With Ming making his mark as a closer, Dalbec has moved back into the starter role and has been plenty effective in said role.

At this time of year you have to go with your hot arms. Cloney got worked against Louisiana Lafayette, while Dalbec has been terrific, and winning tomorrow is ridiculously important. If we win tomorrow then we wouldn't have to play again until Friday and Bannister would be on 6 days rest. Lose tomorrow's game and we're stretching out the pitching rotation pretty thin.

100% agree. Dalbec has been incredible this postseason. Like they said last night, there are times when instead of thinking "how to win this game," you're thinking "how do we win it all?" Like people have said, we're playing with house money, and the way JJ coaches aggressively, I can't help but think he'll keep doing that.

Everyone talks about winning the first game, but nobody (except for KP) talks about winning the 2nd game. That 2nd game is just as important as the first. Last night they said only 3 teams have lost the first game and then won it all (all recently in fact). But, since they switched to the 2-pod bracket in 1988, only 2 teams have ever lost their second game and won it all (88 and 89 in fact). So since 1988, all but 5 champions have won the first two games (and only 3 since 1990).

It's funny how they think we weren't any good and got lucky in 2012. We had the best offensive team in the country, backed by a great defense, and a pitching staff that had talent but hadn't put it all together (Kurt had but Konnor hadn't found as much consistency as he had talent).

How about that SEC. #1 Florida gets beat 2-1 by Coastal Carolina and will play Texas Tech in an elimination game. Nice day for there school as Dustin Johnson is from there and he won the US Open today.

All national seeds lost in their first game and are in elimination games.

Huge game tonight. Win and we get Bannister back for the pod clincher on Friday with 5 days rest. I would assume we throw Dalbec but I wonder if we let him just pitch or keep his bat in the lineup. It seems lately we have let him just concentrate on pitching on this days he starts

I wonder what our offensive production on average is with that change. Dalbec has power but man he strikes out A LOT. Okie St scares me more that the U did. They play in a tough conference and have been hot all postseason. They have not trailed in the playoffs yet.

Hoping Dalbec will be dealing ala his Mississippi St outing tonight
