Probably a mixture of Flynn, Gomez, and Megill.

Big game today. If we can sweep and get back to .500 that would be huge. I strong close could allow us to host a first round playoff series. Deason needs to throw darts today

Bottom of the 6th and it's 5-4 bad guys. Matijevic bad just tked it up with a 2 run bomb and we let them score on a wild pitch

Matijevic hit another 2 run bomb and brought us within one run. We reward his fantastic play by giving up an error and a triple to extend UW's lead to 9-7. Pitching has pissed this one away.

4 OOC games this week starting with ASSU tonight. They had the 5 guys leave the program so they could rallye together or implode. Hopefully we put a beat down on them but good.

Then for some reason we scheduled a series ACROSS the country against Charleston. That seems odd to me. If we can get all 4 this week that would put us at 35 wins with a chance at 40 in the regular season

Faulkner got the start tonight and went 1 and 1/3. Two runners on for ASSU and JJ with the short hook as he brings in Megill who has been pretty good.

He gets a K and then a groundout to end the threat. Still no score

Now 3-1 devils who have a runner at 2nd with 2 outs. We have brought in Rio Gomez to stem the rallye but he gives up an RBI single to make it 4-1 going into the bottom of the 5th

Gomez walks a batter, gives up a single, and then a triple. ASU up 6-4. This team just has nothing resembling pitching outside of Cloney/Ming.

Naturally we tie it up 10-10 in the 8th and pitching is about to give it away in the 9th, because that's what our pitching does best.

by ChooChooCat
Welp gave up 4 runs in that inning, 14-10 and we're going to need another 5 run walk off.

In the last two games Arizona pitching not named JC Cloney and Cameron Ming have given up 34 hits and 25 runs. That's pretty bad.

Yep naturally we rally in the 9th and bring it to 14-13 and fall just short. Pitching can not give up 4 fricken runs in the top of the 9th after we rally to tie the game. That just can not happen. This team just does not have the pitching to make it deep into the tournament.

Yeah disappointed at the back end not this staff. We used Gomez (spot starter ), Flynn (had high hopes for this guy) and Medel (who I think JJ was hoping would take Mings spot as closer) and no one was effective.

The scum are a top 100 RPI team but no way should we have given up 4 in the 9th. After the rallye in the 8th that closer knows he needs to put up a zero.

We know Cloney and Ming can give us 9 but Deason has not shown that nor do we have a closer we can count on

Thankfully that was our last mid-week game of the season. I honestly have no idea what this team is going to do in the postseason when both Cloney and Ming need rest. Our best option is just to outscore the competition. It's honestly a shame to waste this awesome group of bats that we have with this group of pitchers. Jay certainly tried with the influx of JUCO guys. I had high hopes for both Megill and Faulkner, but neither have been even remotely consistent. We have 3 more weekends until the postseason, I don't think the odds are that good of finding a consistent third starter and a closer at this juncture.

The postseason sometimes finds pitching you didn't expect. Gamers. People who get a 2nd chance after the regular season. That happened to a certain extent last year. Ming was a part time #3, Cloney was getting killed by fans and even carried that into the postseason vs ULL. Then, suddenly, he is a killer, and Ming becomes an inning-eating stud. Megill is the most likely to flip a switch, but yeah...we either have to win the first 3 games of every double-elim bracket, or find someone out of nowhere...

Cats playing in Charleston in front of lots of family for Matijevic. In his first at bat get he goes yard to raise his average to .418 on the season. 1-1 in the second, cats still batting. Cloney on the bump for us

Naturally since that Matijevic homer we can't get a hit on their 5.00 ERA pitcher, in fact he continues to strike out the vast majority of batters he's seen since. Down 3-1 now. In general this has been a very frustrating team to watch.

Saw a stat that had the PAC #4 in strength of conference with the Big 12 first followed by the SEC and then the ACC. Anyone buying that?
