Figured they deserve a new thread. Stumbled upon this, sounds like they're making progress in turning things around.

Should have happened a long time ago. Butts never should have been hired in the first place. Never a HC. At least Ben Lindsey was a HC at some level. Interesting how Barnes will work out too.

AD and the UA fanbase just didn't care about UA WBB.

I don't know how Butts lasted more than four years here. Sounds like there wasn't much team chemistry. Look at how many players left the program over the last eight years.

I don't think they wanted to pay the money to get someone better than Butts. What was once a respectable if not great program went down the drain while Butts lingered on as coach.

Just because she coached there doesn't mean she would leave. I doubt she would leave her alma mater.

I'm at the point where I'd hire her to be the football coach.

Thanks ghost, that was a really cool article.
Barnes actually recruited Plum to Washington when she was an assistant there, and now is trying to use the San Diego native as an example for her current team at Arizona.

“I remind our players that she wasn’t a top-10 kid coming out of high school,” Barnes said. “She was a top-30, top-40 kid. No one would have thought that she would’ve been the first draft pick. No one thought she would’ve broken all the records. No one would’ve thought that at all. But her work ethic, her determination, her mentality set her apart.

“So I’m bringing in pieces like that to change the culture here like Kelsey Plum did at Washington.”
The turnaround in our program makes a lot more sense after that snippet from the article.

From someone who has seen the girls on this team multiple times: "The only Division I talent they have currently roster are redshirting due to transfer or are freshmen, next year will be a lot different."

They just exceeded their win total from all of last year. I’d say the turnaround is underway.

This team is talented and young. Barnes has this program rising fast. What is crazy is next year's incoming freshmen are all from outside the United States.

Yeah well it looks to like when A$$U played 'somebody', they lost. Badly.

Who cares... 'under the radar' and all that, amirite?

It's clear Barnes has this program going in the right direction. They're playing great. However, coming off 7 straight losing seasons it's no wonder they weren't ranked. That won't last long.
