all I ever wanted was a final four.

We could win here and get stomped by Tucky by 40+, and I wouldn't give a single crap.

My 2001 FF shirt is torn, battered, and smells weird. I need a new one.

Same for me. The wife asks after the XU game if we won. I say yes and she says, it sure didn't sound like it. These games are a grind to watch for sure.

CatGrad, hang in there. My mom came down with something similar in Sept 2014. My wife and I really came together so we could get thru it. Lucky for me, my wife is beyond amazing! Hopefully, you are similarly blessed.

BTFD!

The marks of the die-hard:

You do not enjoy games as much as you endure them.

Winning doesn't make you happy, just relieved.

I'm often just as sweaty and disheveled as Miller at the end of games. Thank god I don't have to then be interviewed on national television.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

You hit the nail on the head. Sometimes I just want to pass out and wake up after the game and find out the score.

Its a sickness.

There is definitely a ring of truth in your statement. Sometimes I just want to turn off the television in a close game, and lay down and read something. My older bones can't take the stress levels like it used to. One of these days I will probably die of a heart attack watching a UA game.

I want the game to be over with already. I can't handle this anxiety anymore.

Then there's the challenge of pretending not to be an obsessed fan. The "oh, really?" upon hearing that we landed a prized recruit, or that Miller considered Maryland. The shrug at the news that Miller is 14-1 against lower seeds and might have a grudge against the commissioner. "Oh, that's why they're booing."

Can be exhausting in its own way.
Right where I want to be.

How long is each "war" in Miller's system? Four minutes?

I just had someone who saw the Beardown Wildcats on my computer and he asked me what Bears had to do with the Arizona Wildcats.

It was sooooo hard for me not to punch this guy in the nuts.

Four minute battles.

I remember seeing him as he spoke to the the Zonazoo his first year. He bought us all pizza, wanted to make a new chant, answered questions, and played games.

Me, and a buddy, were chosen to do a layup drill with Coach Miller. It was a great experience. Man, I had totally forgotten about that!

Thanks, Salty.

Okay, then I'm just going to watch this game in four-minute increments, concerned with each in isolation. I don't know how else to face a whole game.

I just came from Union Market in DC having lunch. Sporting of UofA bb shirt. Some tool ASU grad comes up to me throws a fork and goes, ASU. I state calmly (with daughter in arms), "enjoy watching the game tonight since your team hasn't sniffed the tourney in years."

Daughters have a calming force.

I used to be batshit nuts...but now I have toned down to just crazy. :D

I have been watching AZ basketball for so long (B.L. - before Lute) that I don't die anymore when we lose games in the regular season and even the Pac championship.

But the Tourney is different. We've been knocking on the door for awhile so we fans need this one tonight.

Got the UA socks, shirt and hat on so I'm ready.

In response to this thread...I used to try to explain to others what it means to be an Arizona fan. I am at the age now, where I dont' bother and I don't care to explain.

If I had to explain, I'd simply just say this: All I want from Arizona Basketball is more.
I fly like a hawk, or better yet an eagle--a seagull. I sniff suckers out like a beagle...My ego is off and running and gone, Cause I'm about the best and if you diss than that's wrong

My girlfrI end asks me "Do you want to watch the McConnell interview from after the game?" I said No. She starred at me for a few seconds . . .

Sometime today I will get the courage to watch it the post game pressers. I know I will become teary-eyed.

Last night was horrific for me. My in-laws came over to watch my kids so the wife and I could go out for our anniversary. They arrived right as Wisky turned our three point lead into an insurmountable defecit by raining the first five of those three pointers. The rest of the game consisted of my father-in-law asking me how many fouls everyone on Wisconsin had and asking me if I just saw what we all just watched on tv ("Wow, did you see that shot?" No you fucking imbecile, I went suddenly blind for no reason. Please describe it to me in detail...), and my mother-in-law ranting about how "Wisconsin is just too good. They're just too good!" even though she's watched all of ten minutes of basketball at any level in her life.

Finally my wife told them to both shut up. In those exact words. "Both of you just shut up!" But by then it was too late. My head was in my hands because that was the only way I could stop them from breaking things. I love my in-laws but they seriously ruined it for me. The loss was bad enough, but I needed to see it alone or just with my wife and kids. They were supposed to come by today but I told them to stay home. I cannot stand to see their faces. They are the embodiment of Arizona's failure and I cannot be reminded of that just yet.

I will never again allow them in my house while Arizona is playing. They can stand out on the front stoop freezing their old asses off until the final whistle.

Horrible. Sorry, man.

We visit the in-laws every Christmas break. I find a bedroom if a Cat game is on. "We can put the game on the big TV!" No thanks.

They didn't get whatever channel that UNLV game was on. Turned out for the best.
Right where I want to be.

2 things. 1) We really need a like/rep button again and B) There is no way in hell I could fit into anything I owned in 1997.

I told myself after Saturday's loss that I was going to take a couple months off from here and my AZ basketball obsession.

I was not going to post after the game. (I posted a couple things post game, mostly yelling at folks blaming Miller, Pitts, etc.)

I certainly wasn't going to post Sunday (I posted a couple things basically saying how much I've loved the guys we have had here in our program the last few years)

Monday there would be no reason to post at all (Do we have like a 5% chance or getting Rabb? Might Zeus stay? Transfers to play next year? How is Ray Smith feeling?)

I'm sure I'll have no reason to check tomorrow so ...

See you all in a couple months... or maybe a month.... couple weeks..... oh fuck it....
