ASU, Oregon St. and UNLV Cost Us This Game

Post by cpt »

I know hindsight is 20/20 but bear with me...but if we don't lose any one of those three highly winnable games, we are a 1 seed and this game doesn't happen. Wisconsin is a horrible matchup for us. When we were projected as a 2 to Villanova (when UVA was still a 1), I felt confident of a Final Four. When the brackets came out, my heart sank. Wisconsin is the toughest matchup for us in the whole tournament. Again, don't lose one of those three games, and we don't play Wisconsin, we are a number one seed and we are probably in the Final Four.

They would have gotten the weakest 1 and that wouldn't have been us.

Yes, but not necessarily in the West region.

Those losses were bad and cost us any chance of a number one seed.

It was a bad draw, but if you can't beat Wisconsin, you're not really championship material unfortunately, cause while they're quite good, they're not great.

I actually wish we had lost one more game so they would've sent us to be a 2 in the East or the South.

At this point I could care less about a championship. I just want a Final Four.

I just had this same discussion with my wife CPT.

She knew it when we witnessed the loss at Wells Fargo in person, and I knew it when MichSt couldn't be Wisky in the Big10 final.

When the brackets came out I knew this was the worst possible outcome.

Hence why I feel being in the "West Region" is overrated. Hell we have fans EVERYWHERE, no sense in limiting it to the west.

If we were the "best 2" we should've gone to the East with the "weakest 1".

I want to go back to the S-curve. Geography be damned.

Could also say Gonzaga losing to BYU also turned out to be not a good thing. They would have gotten the 2 in the West and shipped us out.

They would've beaten Kentucky by 5-10 with that half...even with Kentucky playing to their potential.

Wisconsin would've beaten any challengers tonight. And the way we played we would've had a battle with anybody, even Kenutcky. Unreal we ran into a buzzsaw of three pointers like that to continue the heartache.

The fact that CBS wanted a UK/Duke final cost us this game. The bracket was set up to give Duke the easiest path to the championship game.

This is what cost us. I mean, Arizona shot 56% from the field, and I think like 93% from the line...28 points if I remember correctly. Outrebounded them and ended with 10 turnovers.

The only thing that beats that is a crazy offensive performance from the other team. That happened. Wisconsin players hitting 10 three pointers while being defended pretty well in the second half is what cost us.

Not some fucking game months ago.

Yup with how we rebounded and shot the ball...We win that game 80% of the time.. Wisconsin just decided to have their 3 point shooting showcase of the decade against us.

Scheduling Mount St. Mary's, Cal State Northridge, Gardner Webb, and Utah Valley instead of some actually competitive teams cost us this game.

I dont care if we had scheduled the final four teams, when a team only misses 4 shots and hits 10 three's in the second half, you are going yo lose.

It's incredible we only, lost by 7 and that we hung in the game until the last minute. That last rainbow 3 by Dekker just kind of summed up the game

Agree. We fought hard and would've won had they just shot a little worse. The final 3 was really a rainmaker. Dekker was simply in the zone the second half...I've felt it before playing in rec league games, high school and whatnot....where you can just bomb high-arcing 3's from anywhere on the court unconsciously. Sucks for us.
