That wasn't the agreement. But I'd be very surprised if this game is closer than 10 points.

There is zero chance any of you will get a good night of sleep this weekend. There is zero chance you'll avoid constipation. There is zero chance you'll enjoy a chance to dawdle over a piece of cake on your next birthday. Zero.

Zero!

What's the crunch time lineup going to look like with Trier back?

PJC
Allen
Trier
Lauri
Dusan

Allen
Trier
Alkins
Lauri
Dusan

PJC
Allen
Trier
Alkins/Simmons
Lauri

Trier won't start yet, but he'll be first one off the bench.

If he shows signs of trying too hard to be 'the man' he'll be benched immediately.

If he gets burned on defense twice, he'll be be benched immediately.

If he is too impatient to wait for the right shot, he'll be benched immediately.

If he show signs of irritation with his teammates, he'll be benched immediately.

If he eases into the game, works into his rhythm, sparks his teammates, he'll be a star.

There are 20 more games before the final. We are 17-2 without him and lost those two games by a total of 11 points. We don't need a ton of points from Trier. We need good defense, decent offense assist wise more than point wise, and a great teamwork mesh. Scoring points is a bonus. All of that will come over the next few games, not first time up.

Everybody's gonna be hyped up for him to be back, me included, and his team mates included. But we really shouldn't expect a GOAT performance first time up.

He may try to do too much at first just due to the adrenaline dump he's gonna feel, he will get it out of his system and by the 2nd half he will just play like he always has.

This team now is only down 2 guys (Ferg and Ray) that were considered final 4 contenders preseason. And our 3 frosh are so much farther along than they would have been had the things that happened not occurred. I'd call that a wash.

Dear Lord I hope we can get a favorable seed come March. We are due.

You don't lose a player like Ray Smith and call it a wash. Ever.

Fair enough. Same w Ferguson tbh.

Just trying to say that we are the same final 4 contender we were thought to be in the preseason.

This Trier resolution certainly shifts the mindset from "what could have been" to "what could be"

I think the place Trier will be useful right away is guarding guards and penetrating the zone, which is something we've barely escaped so far this season...while I get that Miller hangs his hat and entire program on defense when you have freshmen who want to show what they got a stagnant offense leads to a lack of concentration on D, which we have seen continuously throughout the season...I don't think the guys lack passion, it's just they have been wired their entire lives to "show what you got" and that has ALWAYS been offense...it's not something you adjust away mentally in a few months of Div.1 BB...so what tends to happen is we get a decent lead and then things sort of stall on offense and the guys drag that into the defensive side of the game...
Having one more player who fucking THRIVES on penetrating or hitting a critical quick three will naturally spark the offense a little bit...I think that helps them keep the entire machine going and will reflect in defense...

Just my opinion but I'm right...(in my own mind).

This was the first thread I opened up this morning, since the Zo thread, although more recently written in, had been a source of frustration all year and I wanted to just read about tonight's game and people's thoughts. I read some of the posts, was wondering why people were talking, for example, about 9 player rotation being perfect, and then I made it to this post. Then I started getting annoyed. I'm thinking, "fuck that when we get Allonzo back we NEED him to be our alpha male scorer, taking pressure off everyone including Lauri. Fuck that why would he be getting annoyed with his teammates this year of all years? Fuck that why won't he start?

And then I made it to the last paragraph and I realized I had missed something important. I didn't want to get too excited so I slowly made my way to espn college bball page and, low and behold, we get a shot at UCLA with Zo back. Holy shit, I'm so fucking excited. Beat down, gents

So against UCLA, it should be Simmons's minutes that get cut back the most, right?

How many times do you think the coaches have watched the UCLA/OR game?

edit: Also, I won't be surprised if Alonzo starts just to guard Ball.

I think our perimeter rotation will now be heavily based in who produces on a given day. We have 5 guys who can do it. Who gets the most minutes is who is on.

If Allen doesn't guard Ball 99.9% the time both are on the court, I will be shocked.

So what is this team missing that other final four teams have. An elite PG and a guy like Ray Smith more suited to guard NBA type 3s like bridges.

All teams have flaws though. We hung w the KenPom #1 team in the nation w no time to prepare for loss of PJC and no Trier on first full game with a 7 man rotation on a neutral court.

This team def has what it takes to make Glendale, even if we get beat by 10+ today. I love this team and the way they play. I really think we are due for a break in the brackets come March.

I would expect to see Simmons/PJC/Pinders minutes all decrease. I would think we have seen the last of the three bigs lineup with Pinder subbing for a wing player.

If we go 3 bigs, it will be dusan at 5, chance at 4 and Lm at 3. It won't be w pinder that's for sure. We won't see it much but Lm has proved he can play some 3.

That would be interesting, I can't remember ever seeing UCLA with three bigs on the court. I've seen all four guards and Leaf playing post.
